ROTTERDAM - Rotterdam Square Mall is unplugged. National Grid has cut power to the mall.
The power company says it's been working with the mall owners for several months to set up a payment plan, but the mall was not able to pay an outstanding bill. There is no word on how large the unpaid bill is.
Rotterdam Square Mall recently made news after six stores announced they would be closing, including Macy's and the Gap.
We have a crew at the mall working on the story. We will have more beginning at 5 p.m.

ROTFLMAO! Maybe they can fund new curbing and lighting? That should bring in retail like it did Downtown. Once Macy's flees call in the wrecking crew and wait for
tumbleweed.

The owner was threatened with shut off around black Friday, heard he wired 100,000 grand to stop national grid from shutting him off.i thought this new owner was into shady dealings in the past,it should really be no surprise that this deadbeat can't pay his utility bills, and by the way didn't metro-ripoff,help this guy out before!

The night the lights went out at RSM? Another great job by Metrograft which stepped in it in late November of last year. The park is not a bad idea. No retail will come to the insane tax County.

funny ain't it how folks are so quick to want to dissolve METROPLEX/GILLEN....
what the hell does METROPLEX/GILLEN have to do with a private business owner not paying their utility bills?
Are you suggesting METROPLEX/GILLEN step in and give them a helping hand now?
Are you suggesting that METROPLEX/GILLEN should have given them a helping hand last November?
Can't have it both ways...duh!

Very true.  Taxpayer money should NEVER NEVER be sued to pay the utility bill of ANY private business!  Taxpayer money should NEVER NEVER be used to give handouts and/or tax exemptions to private businesses/venture/developers, ESPECIALLY when they are millionaires or billionaires; however this is EXACTLY what Schenectady is doing and it is NOT RIGHT!   People are losing their homes because of it.  Neighborhoods are being ignored because of it.  ESSENTIAL services to the taxpayers is being reduced or cut because of it.  But the people in the city see the fancy buildings and think the leaders are doing a wonderful job, but until someone puts a huge front page spread about how the tax base has fallen, how (nice) homes sit for sale for a year or so, etc, the people are not going to see the truth in how bad the city, county and metroplex really are.

That said, I don't remember which TV channel we had on, but the BUFFOON was interviewed on the news yesterday and in one sentence he used that dreaded word "Metroplex" seemingly alluding to Metroplex trying to get involved with the mall.  God help the town if plex got involved there, reduction of the tax base to the town, affecting the county as well, and the people in Schalmont would be hit, but of course how about consolidating and forcing the people in Mohon to pay higher taxes.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

I saw that as well. I wonder if that was a slip of the tongue. He did say Metroplex was interested in the property. Sorta surprised me he let that out.
