ditto for Helderberg and Altamont ave....both of those roads were in SORRY shape in the fall, so don't blame the weather on those!

Let's not bundle together the result of incompetence and brutal weather conditions...REALLY!!!
One really needs to be able to separate the two.
A road in Albany is starting to buckle due to the cold.
Every municipality is experiencing pot holes and poor road conditions.

As far as snow plowing and keeping the roads clear......I agree....Schenectady = FAIL!!

Again....don't confuse incompetence with brutal weather conditions.

I guess you didn't read my post, then...I said those roads were in sorry shape in the fall...before the weather played a factor.
I realize that the weather is reeking havoc all over. My point is on several roads the run through Schenectady and connecting towns, you can blindfold someone in a car and they can tell when they hit the city line based on the ride...it's a glaring example of the city doing a crappy job on its roads.

Fixed that for you.

Rice Rd. in Rotterdam was redone last summer, the same way repaving is being done these days. It's like driving on a roller coaster right now.

One other thing, we live on a rock that is constantly changing/moving. The idea that humans thought it would be a good idea to place concrete/blacktop on top of it and that the concrete/blacktop would stay in place is absurd. I'd like to see the place in a northern climate where this DOESN'T happen.

The city is currently snow blowing along Lenox Road where there is no parking allowed and meanwhile they didn't touch Union Ave.  Can someone explain that to me?

Fixed yours too...Helderberg Ave and Altamont Ave in ROTTERDAM, that's where it doesn't happen..compare the last 50 yards of those roads  in rotterdam to the first 50 yards of those roads in the city... it's like driving in another country.

There is no dispute here......Schenectady roads suck....year round!!

But under these brutal conditions....ALL municipalities/businesses/homes are showing the strain!

In Schenectady's case.....Even if the roads were in pristine condition....THEY DON'T PLOW THEM!!!!
Some aren't passable even for emergency vehicle.

I think what folks are saying is that FIRST the roads suck year round....SECOND these weather conditions are making it even worse....for which I agree.

But i'm sure that we can agree that some issues are weather related only.

Poor baby. You're quite defensive aren't you. Oh, and for your information, I'm not DV. If you believe I am, then you're a fool. If you'd like to know my real name send me a PM and I'd be happy to tell you who I am. Of course I'd expect you to do the same.

Wow... talk about defensive...and not being able to take a joke...take the stick out of your azz, you'll feel better..

What isn't a joke is the non-weather related condition of major Schenectady thoroughfares...the only thing I can be glad of is my taxes don't pay the clowns that inhabit the city bureau of service department.

If it was a joke then I apologize. Just getting tired of the Alva's DV thing.

The winter has been brutal on roads all over.  Let's face it - the nayboobs are hopelessly myopic in their world view.
Roads in Ballston Spa/Saratoga seem fine while there this past week.

Helderberg Avenue to the city line is fine.

From the city line heading towards Guilderland Ave, the road is like a roller coaster with speed bumps and jumps for doing aerial acrobatics.

I live up here in Providence and the roads aren't even 10% as bad as they are where you are. My biggest gripe was the roads not be cleared well enough.
