One can assume that once the developers/State can guarantee that the project will not increase flooding in the Stockade, then those folks that will be affected(not ones who don't live in the affected area) will then rest easier.
Rest easier ? Ha ha ha - is that a joke ? No one is going to rest easier. EVER. The king of the Knucklehead party will see to that. the King is in a constant state of waiting. Like a perpetually pregnant woman. Waiting for the Mayor. Waiting for the mayor to do something. Waiting to get something or have something taken from you. Waiting for Democratic voice to tell you you have cancer ? Yes there are 2 parties- the Dems and the Knucklehead party. Honest to God. you expect the people to turn the town over to knuckleheads ? Claiming to be taxpayers. What a joke. The only thing for sure is- in the words of Bobby Gillespi " The b!tches keep b!tchin and the clap just keeps itchin " . |

I reiterate --- Still haven't seen anyone post specific proof to back up the accusation that Mohawk Harbor would increase flooding. Just a lot of tilting at windmills.
Based on the arguments made thus far, one could make the argument that the Stockade Neighborhood, itself, with all of its improvements and structures causes increased flooding along the river. |

And if we may ask, just what improvements/developments do you speak of or are aware of that encourage flooding? THe 5 feeder streets are devoid of any structures in existence that encourage flooding, other than the fact they were built in close proximity to a major waterway. The Stockade being NYS's first designated historic district, is strickley governed by the historic commission codes. Nothing can be erected/razed/modified w/o their approval. People there are concerned with any additional causes of flooding. And why would'nt they be. Have you noticed that Schoharie is still in recovery mode? |

One of the dictionary definitions of the word "opinion" is one that does not require actual proof, hence why it is an opinion. Many on this issue have just that, an opinion. You've stated the project would not cause/increase flooding. You do not know this either as fact hence it is your opinion. And you have every right to it. The fact that flooding is such a concern to an area that has been flooded on a fairly regular basis is a legitimate concern. How would you feel if you owned a home there, one possibly handed down through generations? Only to see these occurences increase. Once the Army Corp/State/Developers do their studies and make them public with their gurantees(?) that this will not contribute to an existing problem, those residents may rest somewhat easier. That is until the next flood arrives, as it will. And not always as a result of a hurricane. At least the Corp/developer will be on public record, and that is the important part getting a public statement, as to their findings/recomendations. So if a situation arises at a later date which contradicts their findings, proper action can be enacted. Thank you in advance for your continued civil discourse. |

Logically, if building buildings on the old ALCO site will somehow cause/increase flooding, which is something that YOU suggested, than the presence of buildings in the Stockade area must contribute to flooding as well. You have not been able to show any proof that building buildings on the old ALCO site will cause/increase flooding. -- I was using the statement (about the Stockade) to show that how preposterous it is to claim that the mere presence of buildings near a river will cause or increase flooding. The Stockade Commission is a mixed bag IMHO. Certain projects (the apartments along Liberty Street) that really didn't belong in the Stockade District were allowed. The district is not as well maintained as it was years ago. Yes. Schoharie is still recovering -- not that it really has anything to do with this topic. |
