Of course, I stated in the past that that consolidation of stuff will NOT save money. Such as talking about schools. This is not exactly a consolidation situation, however from the gazette today:

School board approves ‘imperfect’ redistricting
BY KATHLEEN MOORE Gazette Reporter
Reach Gazette reporter Kathleen Moore at 395-3120 or moore@dailygazette.com . Next year, .... But the plan, which was developed this fall and will go into effect July 1, 2016, is not perfect — especially for some students in the Bellevue neighborhood who will be bused to Hamilton Elementary School, miles from their homes. “They’re separated [from the school] by a huge ravine, railroad tracks and a stream,” school board member Cheryl Nechamen said. “They have nothing in common with that neighborhood.”
...
Overall, more children will be able to walk to school — but at Howe and Paige, most children will take the bus. That’s a blow to parents who loved the idea of their children living so close to their school that they could walk to it.
...
The new plan will allow the district to save money by reducing buses. This school year, the district is using 47 buses. In September 2016, the district will need only 32 buses.
Remember, consolidation will SUBSTANTIALLY INCREASE costs, what with needing many new buses, increased gas costs, increased maintenance costs, hiring more drivers (meaning salary, insurance, pensions, etc) It will far exceed the puny savings from eliminating a handful of superintendents.
And on that Channel 9 the other night, Capital News Tonight, the host was talking to someone about consolidating school districts and it was stated that such action will force students to spend hours and hours on a school bus.
But then, people who don't and will never have children and are not taxpayers just can't understand.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
we're not in that school district..........so we don't really give a crap! let the taxpayers in that district work it out....geezzzzzz
...here....I fixed it JUST FOR YOU!!!!!

Consolidating the six school districts in the county would save a lot of money --- 1 superintendent instead of 6, 1 district office staff instead of 6, etc. Even a Kindergartner would understand that.
The article cited even says that the new plan within the city would save money -- but curiously, the person(s)/multiple-personalities that started the thread consider him/herself an expert in every topic of discussion -- everything from educational administration to professional auto racing - and has determined that the REAL, TRAINED, EXPERIENCED experts are wrong.
Furthermore, students in Bellevue would be closer to Jefferson ES as well as the middle school and high school in Rotterdam.

DV thinks additional buses needed are free, additional bus drivers needed are free, maintenance of additional buses are free. Oh, fuel for gas is free too. Additional buses to inspect means additional work for the state too.
Oh, and insurance is free too---No wonder DV is a FAILED insurance agent. ROFL Not licensed since June 2010 but gets himself on Angie's List as an insurance agent August 2010 with unknown license status. ROFL

1st rule of government systems.....reshuffle....you would have more than 1 superintendent they would just have a different title
deck chairs on titanic....
the future is coming and the cost is irrelevant because currently we are living in the past when it comes to education
consolidation does NOT equate to savings/rebates/credits etc etc......it's all relative, even a 5th grader knows how to play liars poker....
...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

So buying more buses saves money. How? Oh yeah, we know that you will answer how purchasing more buses saves money.
So, having buses drive SUBSTANTIALLY longer distances which requires more gas, more wear and tear thus cutting down on the life span of the bus, plus more maintenance saves money? How? Oh, we ALL know that you will NOT answer how more gas saves money, etc
And DV, just because some kids in Bellevue might be closer to Jefferson does NOT mean the students will go there. As you are not, never have been, never will be a parent, you are not, never have been, and never will be a property tax payer, and you have not the teeniest knowledge in educational administration, you do NOT realize that various levels of government basically dictate where school districts can send students. Some white kids from Bellevue could be sent far away to Nisky with some minority kids from "the hill". And all kinds of other combinations. Consolidate and 90% of the students will NOT go to the school closest to where they live, they will NOT go to the school they currently go to, they WILL BE BUSED all over the county.
And I may not be an expert at professional auto racing, by the way, but you don't even have the remotest clue that the race Tony Stewart was involved I n was by no means professional auto racing in the sense that you most likely are using that phrase.
I wouldn't be surprised if most of us on these boards know more about insurance than you.
By the way, it is highly noted that you have not uttered one word about the Metroplex FAILURE of that Madison handbags, and it is highly noted you have not uttered one word about the other big failure regarding GE.

Consolidation = Online education. No more brick and mortar, no more buses, no more pledging allegiance, no more lockdown drills, no more school shooting. One pedagogue can present curriculum to thousands of students at once.
I support consolidation of school districts and municipalities ... and even counties if the situation warrants. There are many good arguments, which I have already made many times here, to support consolidation and bringing our government entities from the early 19th century into the 21st century.
Some people choose to live in the past and wallow in their miserable, bile-filled, hate-filled existence. I prefer to remain optimistic and looking to the future.
The lies and insults from a dimwit jack a** will not change my mind on the issue.

let me fix that.....into the 22nd century....because that's how short our lives are.....
the only validation that will be used for public schooling is government child care aka "daycare/pre-school" so all the minions can go to work to make the bricks....the bricks without straw......
DV...consolidation is not what it seems when slipped off the lips of a politician......

All the more reason to consider consolidating school districts. Let's start .. here in the City-County of Schenectady.

Reason to educate children at home. School districts will go the way of the dinosaur in one or two more generations.
You will still need a school district to administer the state curriculum, tests, issue diplomas, etc.

Lies? What lies? Oh, as usual, you will NOT state what the lies are because you have NO EVIDENCE whatsoever to prove they are lies
Students living in Nisky will NOT walk to a school building in Duanesburg. A student living in Hamilton Hill will NOT walk to a school building in what is now known as Schalmont. A student in Glenville will NOT walk to a school located in MP section of the city.
PROOF that I do NOT lie. More buses WILL be needed, it will require more mileage, which increases the cost of gas, will cause wear and tear, more maintenance, and ALL of these will increase costs to the taxpayer and that is NOT a Lie and I DEFY you to provide EVIDENCE that it is. Likely it will require more bus drivers, more bus monitors, and more mechanics which means more employees which means more money spent on salaries and other lavish benefits. Where does the money come from, DV????? Oh, naturally, as you are NOT a school tax taxpayer, you do NOT have a clue.
Lies????????? WHO is the one who REALLY tells lies????????? Where is your EVIDENCE that county taxes are lower than the 1970's????? It is an absolute guarantee that 20 years from now you will still not have provided one teeny weeny shred of evidence of your statement, thus proving YOU are the one who LIES.

I'm all for it, just as long as the city/County reimburses me for the hit my property value will take being associated with the city of Schenectady...even more than it already has...There's a reason as soon as prospective home buyers discover the home they are looking at is in the Schenectady City school district, they proceed to cross it off the list...
