FACT: The city has it's own laws for recycling, e.g. newspapers, cardboard boxes, glass and plastic bottles/jars and the like.
FACT: The city has stated that overall people are NOT recycling in the city.
FACT: The lack of recycling, as stated by the city, is causing the city to lose money
FACT: This results in an INCREASE in taxes to the financially struggling homeowners in the city
FACT: The city is FAILING to enforce it's own recycling laws, failing to cite people for failing to obey the recycling laws
FACT: The city's FAILURE to enforce the laws is causing the loss of revenue it could get from penalties
FACT: The city is losing money from both lack of revenue from "selling" the recyclables AND from the lack of revenue it could gain from financial penalties upon those who fail to separate trash
FACT: This results in an INCREASE in taxes to the financially struggling homeowners in the city
FACT: The mayor is ignoring the city's own laws and instead focusing on increasing taxes on the homeowners in order to give the tax dollars to his and the party's millionaire political cronies in return for the lavish kickbacks (a FACT reported from official government records) in the form of generous campaign handouts.
FACT: NY State has a new law, prohibiting putting electronics and the like in with your trash.
So, the question is, will the city pick up such items when people put them in the trash? Will the mayor ignore that law and focus on his taxpayer handouts to his millionaires? Or will he have the city crews check trash for these electronics.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
fact....as of this last spring the city stopped collecting old tvs to recycle...think they will start to do so again? the 2 tin trucks were turned into the 2 tv trucks which now sit idle
the city will hire more government workers to sort through the trash and put the electronics where ever it is that dead electronics go....
smash up the electronics into very very very small pieces and dump them each week, bucket by bucket into the garbage until it is gone...
it would be like dumping legos into the garbage....although that would be a sin in itself....who doesn't like legos
like Shawshank Redemption with the bricks.....

Ever looked at the Scrap Income line on the city financials. It is usually less than $1000. In fact I heard the city gets nothing from the County ran transfer station for these valuable items.

We had a high-priced Guru of Garbage who couldn't actually handle the recycling thing, so they blamed the citizenry. I really think they could ask some high school students to come up with some ideas for a successful program. They wouldn't be bound by politics.
