Don't worry, I hear it's those "other" taxpayers that are paying for this, you know, the "federal" ones. Oh, wait... |

Wait til someone gets killed trying to cross at the roundabout. Wait til the snowplow goes around and the little "island" at which to wait between traffic lanes is covered with snow and there is no place to wait.
The city leadership thinking highly of this roundabout, they'll pay for it someday.

Traffic circles work well until there is HEAVY traffic, then it is no better than a properly time traffic light..The example I use is the circle at Curry RD and hamburg...and before you say I'm wrong... I've taken this exit off 890 M-f EVERY week for the past 10 years....before the circle, traffic would back up just after the overpass on a busy day, and after the circle installed???...traffic would back up just after the overpass on a busy day... NO DIFFERENCE |

Notice how DV avoids explaining HOW people will cross without a traffic light or crosswalk signal. It's a dem project, someone is getting paid off, so DV is cheering for it. |

traffic circles give the masses the illusion that 'at least I'm still moving because, I just know the a$$hole up front has no red light'
It helps relieve the pause before acceleration when stopped at a red light....

I have driven through that intersection between 5 P.M. and 6 P.M. Monday through Friday many times over the years. Personally, I find that the traffic flows better with the circle. As to the volume of traffic, a circle will not reduce volume of traffic -- it just makes it flow more smoothly. |

Naturally, without any traffic lights, motor vehicle traffic will NOT have to stop. Continuous driving will prohibit pedestrians from crossing the street and I DEFY you, DV, to explain HOW people--ESPECIALLY the slow walking elderly--will be able to cross without a signal to stop motor vehicle traffic from going. How about you answer this question, DV. would you care to tell us how blind people will cross at the traffic "circle." Well? Have you got an answer for that one. Blind people rely on the chirping of the traffic signal at a crosswalk when the lights have turned red for motor vehicle traffic. Now would you care to tell us when that chirping will alert blind people to cross? No answer, of course. Oh, they will have to walk further down Erie to cross and then come all the way back. |

ok...then why is it a chaotic problem to be stuck on curry Rd or Altamont Ave....during that time....no difference.....
then there are those WHO DON'T OBSERVE THE SIGNS/// Y I E L D) DON'T SLOW DOWN AND THERE'S A NEAR MISS OR A COLLISION.
so nothing is a perfect solution.....and especially at SCCC and going west on Crosstown...
idiot planners .....

(yawn) The nayboobs must have started drinking the heavily spiked eggnog already. In which case, they should not be driving at all -- let alone trying to negotiate traffic circles at rush hour. |

Folks who cross both bridges daily (between scotia & schenectady) are already dreading the drive when this is done!!!
a 'circle' will just 'slow' the entire process. A traffic light would give more 'go/stop' control and would work much better. |

Fixing the lights on that stretch is something that should have been done ages ago. Someone recently pointed out the connections of the people who will be making money off of this huge undertaking, but I can't remember exactly. The interesting thing is, the person telling me this is a businessman elsewhere in NY, he does not live in Schenectady. Word gets around. I heard that the traffic circle at Curry Road didn't improve anything, which surprised me, but when I finally went through there at peak traffic time, sure enough there was traffic backed up. Downtown used to have streets you could safely cross. Having dangerous pedestrian crossings is a negative for a downtown, which will never compete on ease of parking with a strip mall. You can't sell "walkability" while at the same time take it away in favor of "connections". We've already seen recent pedestrian deaths in "walkable" downtown. |

It is likely that your claim that you drive there (or ANYWHERE) between 5 and 6 is simply yet another one of your FAIRY tales. You cannot address HOW slow walking elderly people are supposed to get across the street without a crosswalk signal and without a red light forcing drivers to stop. Why do you REFUSE to answer that? And how about people who are blind, DV, they rely on the chirping in the crosswalk to know when to cross, so tell us DV, tell us how blind people are supposed to cross? If you think such a circle is an improvement, please explain how it is an improvement for blind people. Can you answer that? Nah, you won't explain it, you just keep shaking those pom poms, cheering for the wild spending of tax dollars unnecessarily. Oh, just another FAILURE of your dem buddies in the city. In a city which YOU REFUSE to live in. |
