agree or not..........political or not............folks we talked to are 'loving it'!!!
they think it's the best thing that's happened to Schenectady in decades.
....just sayin'.

Of course they are...and it will "look" good for the first few years it's open, but once the shine is off the penny, it will have to rely on the seniors and habitual gamblers...and god forbid we have a recession in between... the first things that take a hit are vacations and other discretionary income choices

Winners = all the complainers on this board now have a long-term whining subject

Losers = anyone who comes to these boards who has to read the constant complaining

Curious....whine and complain to what end?
It's done deal, so why not get past it? Aren't there
things in life more important than complaining about something
you can't change and have no say in? Why not just hope
that it is a favorable thing for Schdy and maybe help the
local economy.

I agree.  Ya can't change the 'unchangeable'.
I'm not saying that I agree with the direction of 'how' Schenectady is heading.  (tax breaks/high taxes...blah blah blah)
But it appears that there weren't enough 'vocals' from the folks who didn't agree.
it is what it is folks.....move on.
this corporate extortion of using tax dollars will continue for decades!
as a side note..........almost all folks we've talked to are VERY EXCITED and think it's moving Schenectady in the right direction.
It was the TOPIC OF CONVERSATION everywhere....and it was ALL positive!!!!!
...........so there ya have it..........move on.

In the short run it may seem positive.  As America's standard of living declines for the future generation, industries of mindless and arguably distructive entertainment(alcohol, drugs, gambling) is the economy of the future.  Manufacturing is all but gone, and consumerism at the level of the prior generation is dwindling.  Instead of amassing toys being the status of wealth, it will be games of chance and other mindless forms of entertainment.  This is the future of a declining America.  People should be saddened that this is now considered the economic revitalization of a dead city.

WOW, more intelligent banter...can't contribute anything positive
so you resort to the usual jackass tactics.

Spoke with a few friends at lunch, and casino's was topic. Opinion
they had was "it's positive move" because there are no other moves
to explore economic improvement in the area. No major manufacturers
are being courted or have shown interest. Generally all agreed it's
kinda the only game in town right now (no pun intended), and needs
to be given a chance to see if it does provide the economic boon
that is claimed.
