Often WHY does not give the answer your looking for.
Why is is mostly used rhetorically ( is that the right word  ? )

Parents start off using Why ? Why cant yu keep yur room clean ? Why cant you fold your clothes. Why cant you be good ?  Why do yu spill your milk. ? If you want to thow a monkey wrench in any conversion, just start throwing in a why here and there.

Your own brain will screw you up cuse it subconsciously will work on stuff like " Why does this always happen to me ? " and " why am I so fat ? - while your sleeping-

you will get your answers .  Not the answer your looking for though.
The question  How can I change my life ? Ask yourself how can I change my state ( of mind or your actual physical state )

Asking why you have to walk through puke and pus every day ? will get you no where.

If you want to change your state.  Read some  Anthony Robbens or Stephen Covey and stop asking why so much.

that's my point....society asks why and then comes up with answers---"it's the guns"........

that makes no sense......

I chew on why, not because of my own predicaments but on the things that are mandated by society's code and government
mandates......

I never ask myself why there was puke on me, I just leave the situation and move on........because that's HOW I do things.

you could also venture to ask "How did that puke come to be on me?"

WHY is a good question that gets to the "SHOULD" of life, which I find we seem to be lacking in society....everything sounds like
unicorns and fairy dust when 'SHOULD' isn't a factor because someone chose not to ask WHY, everything being a bumper sticker
or some facebook 'like'.....
the HOW is always a given...
there are so many freaking systems/regulations/mandates/legislations in place that HOW isn't the problem and EVERYONE
gets credit for the HOW, unless one finds it distasteful to own the wrongs of 'loosie legislation'......

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

SCHENECTADY — The woman gunned down on a busy city street Saturday afternoon in front of her baby had three other children, and had a job in which she helped at-risk youth.

Cassie McCracken, executive director of Safe Inc., said Markia Booth had been tasked with being a youth worker in the shelter for runaway and sexually exploited teens for only a few months, but she had made a huge impact on staff and young people staying at the facility, McCracken said. Safe Inc. is an emergency 30-day shelter.

"It's an awful shock," McCracken said. "The whole agency is in mourning. She was a beautiful, beautiful girl."

Booth, who also went by the name Markia Harris, had returned back to the workforce after having a baby sometime in the summer. She also had three other boys, between toddler age to age 11.

we all know that people kill people.....BUT....the mental system is broken ....and guns are readily available for those who want them...especially for crimes.

domestic violence is on the rise sharply in the past few years....you cannot shove this under the rug.....and women are vulnerable to those who seek

women in desperate need....for whatever....certainly not to financially support them....most of the perps are uneducated, unemployed and unemotional

when it comes to women and how they treat them.....This murder is a class  example of someone who broke the chain and the man could not accept the

rejection that she was making her own way......and his meal ticket was over.

A tragedy in the making and certainly no one deserves to die for selfish reasons...children without  a parent is one thing.....but children without a mother

that's the tragedy....

They say that's the most dangerous time for a woman in an abusive relationship, when she starts to put her life back together without the abuser. I guess they are right. This has similarities to that killing in Rotterdam a while back, but will have worse and more lasting effects because of all the children involved.
The murderer had been in prison, had his freedom, evidently didn't want it. What did he gain? Fifteen minutes or so of satisfaction that he got revenge,or something?
I don't know what the answer is. Billy Fucillo was just all over television for "domestic violence awareness", there are programs, she was IN a program,we have laws, police... we've always had domestic violence around, but not this level of brutality. Shot dead in the street.

Prayers to everyone involved and especially to the surviving baby....what a shame....seems that it's easier to walk up and kill someone...rather than walk
away and move on......society has become diseased in matters of relationships and how to have the ability to accept things as they are...
it's over in an instant and no thought of those left behind....no mercy for this murderer.....and quickly brought to justice....
God bless all.....My prayer is for the surviving baby to have a better chance in life...

Unspeakable tragedy. Life is cheap on the streets of Schenectady with 3 murders in 3 weeks. All our prayers are with the grieving family.

maybe we should rethink the involvement of 'the system' in the human's head....

from cradle to jail making everyone a safe cog....

1. can't make the grade in school---drug them to make them pay attention
2. can't drink until 21------but you can go kill humans for other humans when 18
3. can't smoke until 18------but you can eat mcdonalds/taco bell etc when ever , as 18year olds go kill humans for other
humans to expand their empire of poor nutrition
4. don't really want to go to college-----well, your stuck as a fastfood worker or a walmart worker or some other stupid service job
which according to public opinion are pathetic jobs.
5. wear your seat belt (or don't because we can fine you)
6. someone needs to do something about this unsafe 'safety pin'....THERE MUST BE A RECALL!

the list is endless......is this guy crazy? maybe....it's sad what happened...

to Patches: society hasn't JUST become diseased,,,,,it's always been this way.....it gets worse the more the 'civics' try to control
the masses under the guise of civilization, swaying public thought......

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

no, that's something that's wrong with society......it's NOT just about the mother.....we all have the conversation that
it's a woman's choice to abort, with or without the sperm donors knowledge....isn't that strange?

we need to keep both parties involved, IF they want to be and not just on a punitive level with 'child support'......

let's get beyond crying to the government to fix the 'divorce' thing....don't let the government raise the kids that survive....
just look at what happens when the government 'raises' them in the military.....

women need to get beyond the 'only mother can raise kids'.....

SCHENECTADY — The court appearance for Jamell Modest, accused of killing a Schenectady mother Saturday afternoon on State Street, briefly erupted into chaos this morning as a court spectator rushed the defendant.

The man, not yet unidentified, was knocked to the floor and pepper sprayed by court officers.

The courtroom, packed for a busy morning calendar, was cleared, remaining closed until 11 a.m. to clear the air of pepper spray.

The incident happened in the emotionally charged case involving a 30-year-old mother allegedly shot and killed Saturday by Modest, a former boyfriend, police said.

Modest is accused of shooting her in their car, according to papers filed in court.

SCHENECTADY — A distraught father charged at the man accused of murdering his daughter before being knocked down by court officers and pepper-sprayed Monday morning.

The alleged killer, Jamell Modest, 46, was uninjured in the scuffle and didn’t appear fazed.

He is accused of shooting the mother of four at State and Elder streets Saturday afternoon. The victim, Markia Harris, 30, fell beside an SUV in which her youngest child, a 9-month-old infant, was sitting.

Modest faces one count each of second-degree murder and reckless endangerment — the latter charge for allegedly opening fire near the baby — and is being held without bail.

He was formally arraigned Monday morning in Schenectady City Court.

The courtroom itself was packed with people, both members of the victim’s family and those there for many unrelated court appearances.

After Modest’s case was called, he was led into court to appear before Judge Guido Loyola. Modest looked around at the gallery as he walked in, and immediately after that the victim’s father rushed at him. Marcus Harris, 50, nearly managed to reach Modest before court officers took him to the floor and pepper-sprayed him.

One witness in the courtroom with a different point of view than a Gazette reporter said it appeared the father actually did get one hand on Modest before court officers subdued him.

Marcus Harris faces a total of four misdemeanors related to the incident. He was arraigned later and released without having to post bail.

The incident was the second involving a distraught relative of the dead woman in as many days. On Sunday, her uncle, 40-year-old Donald Dunkel, was accused of calling in a false report to police and throwing a bottle at a responding police car.

Court paperwork in that case indicated Dunkel “was intoxicated and upset over the recent murder of a family member and fabricated this report with intent to get arrested.”

Dunkel’s son, D.C. Dunkel, a first cousin to Markia Harris, said later Monday that the family is obviously hurting.

“Everybody’s hurt, everybody’s in pain,” he said. “It’s not something that everybody’s going to get over. It’s not something where we can say everybody’s doing good, because we’re not. It hurts.”

Donald Dunkel faces a felony criminal mischief count related to the dollar amount of damage caused to the police car, as well as misdemeanors.

Modest was in court Monday to be formally arraigned on the murder charge. The proceedings were halted as a result of the scuffle, then completed when court reopened.

No plea was taken and no bail was set.

The victim Modest is accused of killing was described Monday as a motivated woman and a good mother. The baby who was with her when she was killed was one of her four children, family members said.

Markia Harris, D.C. Dunkel said, “was just a warm spirit,” a woman who would always smile and was never down.

He recalled talking with her recently about her wanting to work with at-risk youth.

“It’s just unbelievable,” he said.

Facebook pages belonging to the victim and the man accused of killing her paint a picture of optimism and anger, respectively, before the shooting.

On Harris’ Facebook page, the last publicly visible post was Nov. 4. That day, an optimistic Harris wrote of being enrolled in school and having schedules with three jobs, “now to consecrate myself and see everything through!”

On Modest’s Facebook page, there were nine separate posts from Nov. 25 to Dec. 5 relating to a woman who apparently was Harris.

In the first post, Modest referred to his “queen,” apologizing to her for an unnamed incident. He also wrote that “when your hearts broken u do things outside the norm.”

“i wholeheartly apology to my queen for the wrong ive done i pray god helps me win back the one i love,” that post concludes.

On Dec. 3 came the seventh post, in which he wrote that he’s “tried to reach her at all levels.”

That post concluded with Modest writing “u will see the old me snake is in full war mode like biggie ready to die.” The punctuation errors appeared to make the intent of that line unclear.

The eighth post was more apologetic, and the final post was a brief mention of his pain.

rp, Mr. Harris can always plead not guilty and insist on a jury trial, that's his right. I don't think anybody would be stupid enough to prosecute him aggressively. Is there a jury anywhere that would convict him?

NOPE!

I also heard that there is going to be a fundraiser of some sort for this girl's kids.
Don't know the details.

Sounds like the uncle tried to get arrested so he could get to Modest from the inside. I understand this family is in pain, but they will end up destroying their family even more if they don't settle down a bit. I'd hate to see them in jail or worse because emotions are high right now.
