She has passed away : (
I figured that she would based on where she was sent. A gunshot sent to Ellis means it's either fairly superficial or the person is so bad they're not even stable enough to make it to Albany Med. Since she was found in the street I tended to belive the second scenerio was more likely. A trauma victim not stable enough to go directly to Albany Med is in really bad shape. Glad I got yet another opportunity to drive my children through a murder scene. |

Prayers to everyone involved and especially to the surviving baby....what a shame....seems that it's easier to walk up and kill someone...rather than walk
away and move on......society has become diseased in matters of relationships and how to have the ability to accept things as they are...
it's over in an instant and no thought of those left behind....no mercy for this murderer.....and quickly brought to justice....
God bless all.....My prayer is for the surviving baby to have a better chance in life...

Kudos to the SPD for wrapping this up so quickly.

Arrest made in Saturday State Street killing December 14, 2014 Updated 7:29 a.m. By Ned Campbell (Contact) Gazette Reporter
SCHENECTADY — A woman was gunned down and killed late Saturday afternoon on State Street. Schenectady police have arrested James Modest, charging him with murder in the killing.
Schenectady police were called at 4:06 p.m. Saturday to the area near Elder Street for multiple reports of shots being fired, police said. Officers arrived to find Markia Booth, 30, of Schenectady, also known as Markia Harris, lying in the middle of the street next to an SUV with several gunshot wounds to the torso, police said.
Booth was treated at the scene and taken by ambulance to Ellis Hospital, where police said she died a short time later.
The Schenectady Police Department subsequently arrested Jamell Steven Modest, 46, of Schenectady, charging him with second-degree murder and first-degree reckless endangerment.
Police said Modest and Booth knew each other and were at one point involved in what the police said was a domestic relationship. Police said it was unclear if the two were still involved in that relationship at the time of the incident.
Modest is due to be arraigned today.
Police said several witnesses saw a man flee the scene north on Linden Street, and responding officers were able to apprehend a man fitting witness descriptions a short distance away, near the intersection of Becker and Elder streets.
A pool of blood lay in the street next to the SUV, which was double-parked along State Street, as investigators collected evidence and interviewed potential witnesses. It was later towed from the scene.
State Street was closed in both directions between Elder and Linden streets for about 2 1⁄2 hours as police investigated, according to the state Department of Transportation.
The killing is the second in the city in the past week, the third in three weeks and the fifth this year.
Wayne L. Best Jr., 25, was killed just before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday near his home of Parkwood Boulevard. Police are seeking two men in that shooting.
Two weeks earlier, Jose Sanchez, 30, was gunned down near his home on Bridge Street on Nov. 24. Police charged Alexis Rodriguez, 35, of 1378 Crane St., with second-degree murder Wednesday, saying the motive for the shooting was a $250 debt.
Sanchez’s brother, Victor, 28, also of Bridge Street, was also stabbed during that incident. He survived, but was subsequently charged with first-degree hindering prosecution and tampering with physical evidence after police said he came into possession of his brother’s unlocked cellphone, programmed a security lock on the phone and refused to give police the code.

Why? It's the way humans have treated each other since the beginning of time. Human 1 wants human 2's land, money, woman/man. Human 2 doesn't want Human 1 to have their "stuff". One of them will kill the other to get what they want. Human 3 related to Human 1 or 2 decides to kill the offending human for retribution. And on and on. I prefer cats as companions. |

Rage.
All logic breaks down, except for those who have the strength to resist acting on what they really want to do.
Domestic rage is powerful - you're dealing with the evolutionary laws of procreation. My guess is that she spurned him for someone else, or left him. This isn't exactly likely to be over who gets custody of the kid.
Only five murders this year? Is that down from 2013? |

I find it bizarre because in every human mind is the 'why'.....no one could ever know the 'why' this guy did it....but a whole lot of folks think that by removing guns that it removes the 'why'.....that's an untruth...... the repercussions of selling loosies really tests the reason of they 'why'....we are at a point where the state being in our minds is fu(king everyone up..... |

We know that's a fallacy, people have been killing each other without guns since the beginning of time. The "why" is hatred/jealousy/ignorance. |

Missed this before my last post. And yeah, rage should have been added to my list of "why's". |

Often WHY does not give the answer your looking for. Why is is mostly used rhetorically ( is that the right word ? ) Parents start off using Why ? Why cant yu keep yur room clean ? Why cant you fold your clothes. Why cant you be good ? Why do yu spill your milk. ? If you want to thow a monkey wrench in any conversion, just start throwing in a why here and there. Your own brain will screw you up cuse it subconsciously will work on stuff like " Why does this always happen to me ? " and " why am I so fat ? - while your sleeping- you will get your answers . Not the answer your looking for though. The question How can I change my life ? Ask yourself how can I change my state ( of mind or your actual physical state ) Asking why you have to walk through puke and pus every day ? will get you no where. If you want to change your state. Read some Anthony Robbens or Stephen Covey and stop asking why so much. |
