No, I never claimed any such thing. Come up with that list of improvements yet, troll?
Well that is a bald face lie- Listen Lady - my father and uncles were born in a house on Schenectady Street. They all went to Mont Pleasnat HS. Improvment ? When the garage fell down in 1967 we cleaned up the mess and planted grass. So it looks ' real nice ' now.
I have a problem with politics. More specifically politicians posing as ' concerned citizens '- like you., claiming how nice things were here in the 90's. Really the 90 s ? It sounds like you rode into town on a horse that died. You cant call a spade a spade. A spade is a Dem. Every thing is Dem this and Dem that.. Politics and politicians cant fix your crappy life.. if you look in the mirror and say that every morning- you will feel better
I think at some point Schenectady will stabilize it needs to complete a purging process. If my view is different thanyours its because I come from a verry large family- many from ' old country ' but most born here including myself. Most of them started LEAVING 60 Years ago because it was Dead here with a capial D. .
We are from Schenectady yes. You are OF Schenectady,
Oh I have no complaints though because Schenectady tkes care of the old people. Mom is in the new Capital Living ' resort ' Thank you very much
McCheese is the single biggest obstacle. I have posted fact after fact with real life examples to back that up.
First....McMayor is clearly NOT the biggest obstacle...just part of them.....count in the last few decades of mayors. This didn't happen overnight.
Second....all of these 'victim' taxpayers have been sitting around for decades 'allowing' the powers that be to run the show. What did they do, wake up one morning and 'see the light'??? They too are part of being an 'obstacle'.
REMEMBER....it was the reps that created the METROPLEX....do ya think they will speak up today to have it abolished? NOPE!!!
This present system will not sustain itself forever. It is all recycled tax money.
METROPLEX takes your sales tax $ and creates a business with it...the business in turn generates sales tax that goes back to the METROPLEX....and the circle starts all over again. BASICALLY NOTHING GAINED.
The Gov. takes your tax money, gives it to section 8, who gives it to the landlords...the landlord gives back your tax money in the form of property taxes....and the circle starts all over again. BASICALLY NOTHING GAINED.
It will implode on itself eventually...but not in our lifetime!
When the INSANE are running the ASYLUM In individuals, insanity is rare; but in groups, parties, nations and epochs, it is the rule. -- Friedrich Nietzsche
“How fortunate for those in power that people never think.” Adolph Hitler
I totally agree with the two previous posts. I'll just add, that if you want to play the blame game, then you better start by looking in the mirror. This didn't happen overnight, nor is it one person or one party's fault. We're all complicit in one way or another. We let this sh*t happen, and since a coward's way out is to put the blame on someone else instead of taking some or the responsibility, nothing is going to change. So keep on spouting off in cyberspace and doing nothing and see where that gets you.

It's actually worse than that. The money businesses receive is from a bond. The taxes pay the bond back, with interest. It's most likely a net loss.
It is easy for certain "people" to whine and complain all the time. It doesn't take much effort and certainly not much intelligence. Is Schenectady perfect and problem free? No. I have never said that and, in fact, have on a number of occasions said that "much work still needs to be done." Having said that - I and many others believe that Schenectady IS improving. We will continue to actually DO something to improve the situation and ignore the do-nothing nayboobs.
Tell us WHAT is improving?????? Can you EVER answer that?????
Is the tax base improving?
Are property values improving?
Are home sales improving?
Are the numbers of people choosing to live in the city improving? HELL YOU EVEN REFUSE TO LIVE IN THE CITY !!!!!!!! (but you REFUSE to answer WHY you REFUSE to live IN the city)
Are home sale prices improving?
Are essential services to the residents and taxpayers IN THE NEIGHBORHOODS improving?
Are businesses choosing to open where WITHOUT handouts from Metroplex?
Can you buy a new car ANYWHERE IN the city?
Are the politically connected current on their taxes?
Are the numbers of foreclosures decreasing?
Are the taxes going down in proportion to the massive plummeting in home values?
So, FACT -- TRUTH, the city is NOT improving !!!!!!!!!!! The only improvements occurring IN the city is the wallets of the millionaire political cronies of the city/co/plex leaders, and then the ever richer campaign accounts of the dems courtesy of the kickbacks to the millionaires. You understand that, don't you DV? The city steals from the taxpayers, gives the money and tax exemptions to the rich downtown who in turn use some of that taxpayer money to put into the political campaigns of the dems.
You say "more needs to be done." DV, a WHOPPING about 12 years of work done and it STILL HAS NOT PRODUCED ONE, NOT ONE, improvement for the homeowners/residents/taxpayers in the neighborhoods. The people have not gotten ANYTHING in return for their "forced investment," ABSOUTELY NOTHING but their home values falling in exchange for higher taxes, the reduction of essential city services in return for higher taxes.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
Just like the LIES, LIES, and more LIES coming from McCheese and his TAX DEADBEAT board of assessment member and city's taxpayer funded real estate agent - he claims everything is going to be so rosy, and she blabs about "X number of houses under contract."
But the TRUTH comes out as we intelligent people provide the EVIDENCE from official records. They blab "50 houses....." and then the official records show that only 5 have sold.
"The city is improving." LIES LIES LIES, not a SHRED of evidence that life is improving for the residents of the city and their neighborhoods.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
I said mcCheese is the SINGLE BIGGEST obstacle, and I stand by that statement. I NEVER SAID HE WAS THE ONLY OBSTACLE OR THE ONLY PROBLEM TO OVERCOME. Maybe it reads better in caps. Just shut up, sombody, I do not say the dems this and the dems that, you ignorant troll. You hate Schenectady so much, you get lost. Yes, Schenectady was better in the 90's than today. Unless you consider ever-spreading crime and blight to be ideal. What is your problem?
McCheese is the fool running around with the real estate sideshow while he keeps on raising taxes and failing to deliver serviced. He's the mayor right now. Previous mayors are gone. They are over with. I still need to see that list of improvements. Or will I see more sock puppets coming out to accuse me of lying?
