He will just send around a flyer telling us crime is down.
Someone from outside Schenectady who has been visiting here recently, told a family member of mine that a friend of his from Schenectady told him Schenectady used to have a lot of crime in the 1990's, but now crime is down. I don't get it, people do not know the difference between reality and perception any more.

we are not in 1990....this is 2014.....if you get a police scanner you would be able to dispute this statistic......

the city perps are coming into other towns.......because the city has no value any more.....and that's a reality

Gee, Mt Pleasant.  Maybe a nun connected with St Adelberts, we do remember seeing a couple of them at the bazaar this summer.   Might be an eye opener for those who claim the city is getting better.

Yes, it is a nun from St Adelberts.  Figures, don't know of any others living in the city.  

Rah, cheer, the city is getting better under the current leaders and plex.  Nun gets mugged, former nun gets murdered.

why have a service job to lick rich people's butts when you can just go and take other people's things....

A hair/barber place on Guilderland Ave (Schenectady side) was broken into.
The owner called the SPD.
It took them THREE hours to get there.
And when they did, they apologized for taking so long to respond.
They said they are VERY busy with calls!!!
They can't keep up.

this really isn't exclusively a 'schenectady' problem.
this is a growing trend EVERYWHERE!
If you look at the 'bigger' picture....this country has no jobs....to speak of.
drug dealing is the most lucrative business....sadly.
the entire country's economy is in the tank.
this country collects $3T and spends $4T.
How long do you think this can continue?
schools are substandard and cant compete globally.
I'm not defending the city....i'm just saying that it's not 'just schenectady'.
There is no 'hope' for a better life.

I agree with you, bt, but the thing that is most galling about Schenectady city is that we sit in an area of relative affluence, while our politicians keep getting away with the "no money" excuse. There is plenty of money, it is just in the wrong hands.

agree....but it's like that EVERYWHERE!!
IT IS ALL ABOUT WHOEVER HAS THE $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.....THEY HAVE THE POWER AND PRIVILEGE.
