Like I said, the home that my family owns and that I help pay the taxes on is next door will be surrounded by Helderberg Meadows. We are most definitely VESTED in the community. We think it is a great project. We supported the project for almost 35 years --way back when it was called Guildercrest. We love the new neighbors. Look forward to more neighbors. Can't wait until the whole project is built out. And there still some beautiful land for sale on which to build some multifamily housing nearby --- that would be a great addition to the neighborhood. You see not everyone is afraid of progress and development - just the nayboobs.
But you are not vested if all you do is “help” pay taxes, YOU DON’T HAVE AN INTEREST IN THE PROPERTY OR NEIGHBORHOOD. What you are claiming is like saying tenants are vested because they pay rent on an apartment! But they and you can leave without financial consequences and are not subject to the results of decisions made by the town. Unlike others including me and my family who have multiple properties within the town and are effected every time the board farts. Guildercrest could not get approved for all those years because the area is/was a swamp and building on it was inappropriate and disturbed protected wet lands. Talk to anyone who kept a horse at the old stables, the trails would regularly be under two feet of water. Not to mention the two acre beaver pond that used to be back there, right about where 398 Steeple way is now located. Now I can only assume some backhanded deals by some big money players got the plans pushed through. Now we have a development of homes that are built on very wet and potentially unsound land, and the builders of these lovely homes will be long gone before the owners figure out what they did. The whole deal stunk like rotten ravioli. |
