subsidy of the above or is that considered prosperity and fair share.....

Of course Cicero and Senders don't understand that more economic activity (people spending money on food, lodging, entertainment, etc.) is actually beneficial to business owners AND will increase tax revenue.  I guess they would prefer that we have empty store fronts and crumbling buildings -- after all that was what we had during the Farley-Jurzynski regime.

I think you may not understand that gambling has zero productive value.  Wealth is created when you produce something of value that benefits society.  GE producing turbines was the creation of wealth since it increased the productive output for its customer and society as a whole.  ALCO produced train engines that were used to move freight around the country more quickly and efficiently.  Carrier made air conditioners that improved people's lives by keeping homes and businesses cool and increasing productivity, as well as refrigerating food storage warehouses extending the shelf life of perishable foods.

Gambling is a rigged game of chance that produces nothing but degenerate gamblers that squander their money on games of chance, hoping to improve their lot in life.  But, who cares if state sanctioned gambling send people into bankruptcy, so long as store fronts are open and tax revenue increases, all is wonderful.

but it's a GREAT machine for the state to collect a sin tax to whatever it wishes to....usually it has to do with government benefits,
the legislation of new laws to make more criminals to create a larger human resource to strip.....

Willis Carrier invented air conditioning and installed it as an application for movie theater. Prior to air conditioning, movie theaters were only open in the evenings when it was cooler. The invention of air conditioning allowed them to open during the day, boosting revenue and boosting revenue of other businesses as a result (i.e. more business traffic during the day).  Also, Carrier is the number 1 producer of Container Refrigeration, allowing for the Global overseas shipment of goods. They also produce Truck and Trailer refrigeration units for transport of goods domestically.

2- 20 something people living together making 15  dollars an hour is 60 grand a year. thats A houshold that can go to proctors, bow tie bombers pay 1250 a month rent and do everything  except buy a house in Schenectady.  these are people with options-  not the scenario you keep describing

someone maybe like yourself- you have a career- maybe make 30 bucks an hour, except thats not enough fr yu because you are too old now to move. your all tangled up in Schenectady magical social life/atmosphere

Maybe some people should have stayed in school because even though  they are making 50 or 60 k- but thats not enough to give you options when your 50 years old.

my point exactly....NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY.......why don't the planners just say that the jobs are not family friendly....????

DSS is the only option for families....WHY? why has it become OK? why has it become the norm? $15/hour will put a family
of 4 or a single parent of 2 in debt and standing in line for their government subsidies....do you think that's OK?

it just doesn't make any more sense than sending box mac and cheese home for a weekend meal.....

and I forgot to say that folks can't retire here or even in NYS, maybe not anywhere affordable to their own standard....

medicare going up
advantage plans going up
cost of living rising
etc etc...

staying in school to create debt for oneself only to realize it's still a cast system and unless society stops paying
actors, sports players, politicians, lawyers, casino owners and the like all that $$ you might just as well get subsidized.
