I know cicero is having a hard time with this whole idea of just  helping people fr no reason whatsoever- especially if he didn't give his authorization .  Isil is not in line at Starbucks and he is not worried.

I just wonder why you are still typing and not on the first airplane to Syria and Iraq to help those people.

I totally understand that most Americans don't care about the Constitutional authorization required to send troops into harms way, or even why it was written in the Constitution.  I'm sure it makes the troops feel good that their Congressman or Woman has no say as to where and when they are deployed to combat.  Voting for their representative is meaningless, since they are not the people that authorize war and send them to their death to fight in another nations civil war.  There has to be nothing worse than being in the military during a lame duck presidency.  Because the person that holds your life in his hands, never has to face another election.

Sombody, have you signed any of your military aged children or grandchildren to fight ISIL?

War powers act, passed in 1973, defines when a president must obtain Congressional authorization for the use of military troops. According to this law, the president must inform Congress when deploying troops into hostile areas. The president may use these troops as deployed for 60 days without Congressional authorization; they may remain longer only if Congress declares war or expressly authorizes a longer deployment. The troops may remain an additional thirty days if their safe removal requires this additional time. They must be removed immediately (even within the first 60 days) if the House of Representatives and the Senate pass a joint resolution demanding immediate withdrawal.
So where is this resolution??? LAME INEFFECTIVE CONGRESS! Just like you Cissy, they b**ch all the time, whine and moan, but do nothing!

What do you care?  You want to cite the War Powers Act, you need to understand...Imminent Threat isn't listed as a condition which the president can use it.

You're right!  Where is the lame congressman you voted for?  Don't they know the President doesn't have the Constitutional authorization to go an bomb Syria a sovereign nation without justification of a national emergency?  Ahhhh...What do you care.  As long as you "feel" ISIL is a threat to you, even though the president NEVER showed any evidence to Congress, you are comfortable with sending the bombers in.

Just admit it Joey...You like living in the oligarchy.  You know deep down inside that there is no representative republic in America.  It's a fraud, an illusion.  It doesn't exist.

Quoted Text
The War Powers Resolution of 1973 is a federal law introduced to check the power of the President in committing the U.S. to an armed conflict without the consent of Congress.

The resolution made Congress not only the sole authority to declare war, but to initiate any kind of offensive operations, big and small. The president's initiative to defensive war was limited for the purpose of repelling sudden attacks.

The resolution established:

1. the principle of collective decision making;

2. the concept of shared power in foreign affairs; and

3. the democratic ideal that war power is placed with the legislative branch, which is the branch closest to the people.

The effect of the resolution is that the President can send the U.S. forces into action abroad only by authorization of Congress or in case of a national emergency created by attack upon the U.S., its territories or possessions, or its armed forces.

What do you care...YOU DON'T VOTE.  Maybe your vote could have changed who that politician is DUHMMMMMMY!
I "admit" that living in reality is where I prefer, not living in your world, that's for sure.
I "feel" ISIL is a threat...really...pull your head out of your the sand.
I know down deep it's a better world here in the US than anyplace else. You think it's the worst
but continue to live here and enjoy all those elements you receive that you b**ch about!
You are the epitome of a whining HYPOCRITE on all fronts! Of course in real life social settings
you are never like this...only in cyberspace do you enjoy being the biggest jackass possible.
Have a miserable night, cuz I know that's what you enjoy!

You've actually seen ISIL?  Are they storming the beaches of America?

That's funny...The US military is deployed to countries to "protect" the people that are living under governments the USG claims is oppressive.  And I never hear Joey, or Sombody, or Box-a-Cocks suggest those people JUST TO MOVE OUT OF THEIR COUNTRY.  If Iraqi's and Syrian's don't like ISIL - JUST MOVE OUT!  That is the joey b solution.

are you a Buddhist ?  i think Buddha s  golden rule is dont do anything to anyone you would not  want done to you  . you know that sounds good  almost like the christian DO unto others as you wuld have them do unto you . It is stated in the positive- suggesting action.

Where is the  reward in not doing  ? - basically  living your life as a statue ?

I don't understand???  Are you saying you would want Russia to pick sides in an American civil war, and drop bombs American cities, infrastructure, refineries, and power plants, because it's the humanitarian thing to do?

oh...BTW...Not Buddhist.

Google and/or Bing are excellent tools for you to use as you begin your quest on answering these questions. Of course you won't believe any of it, since everything is our fault anyway.

What would River Tam do?

Woooah...Wait a minute...Nothing is the fault of the US government.  It is the most benevolent government on earth.  To think otherwise would be treasonous.

A typical Cicero post.  You will find this type of post, in almost every thread that he posts.   If you look at them
all together, Cicero's 'typical post' says not much at all.
Sarcastic, condescending, meaningless posts.
That's Cicero.  Sarcastic, Condescending and Meaningless!

philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

My guess is none of you are trying to talk your kids into joining the military to go fight ISIS, my guess is none of you consider ISIS enough of a threat to risk your kids lives to fight them.

Henry, with all respect, that is not what any parent should do, regardless of their beliefs.
Those are choices individuals are to make and the parents are their sounding boards and supporters.
Those are discussions that families need to hold and be unified in their support.

No, I won't talk my kid into joining because we aren't committed to winning. It really just comes down to that.
