unfortunately people purchased property then the government set up lines. ON TOP of what people thought was theirs.....

property lines between people is much different than government 'property' lines

Im thinking this......years ago before the housing boom.....district .lines were probably correct.....now comes the housing boom.....and builders are not

thinking "straddling"....they just start building one on top of the other....therefore....wouldn't that be one reason why people are paying for two different tax

districts????......and people get caught up in their dream house and walla.....it's over and the buyer is duped.......

the government drew the lines after......most land was wide open farm land....swaths of land that the government 'divided
among themselves' for taxing/service purposes....then the farmers sold bit by bit off....

so here we are.....

the levy
the taxes
the levy
the taxes
the levy

it's all about the levy

....then the farmers sold bit by bit off....

Many farmers and homeowners with lots of land, often are forced to sell off lands, to pay the taxes.

Resistance is futile.

People should not be taxed for living in and owning a home.

All money should be taxed when used for commerce.

Including rent income.

And corporate stock trades.

And your master plan for implementing this "new utopia" is?

Tax money being exchanged.

Taxing people who don't have it is a really stupid, inefficient method.

Taking their properties and not having the money to maintain to dispose of them is stupid, wrapped in insanity.

2% county sales tax.

No property taxes.

Property values and property sales would skyrocket.

Schenectady County properties would become the most desirable properties around.

People could invest in properties themselves and make a profit.

The county would collect the 2% sales tax on all the new growth in property transactions.

Absolutely no exemptions from county sales tax.

2% sales tax would currently cover just about the entire county budget.

Take the .5 % back from Metroplex, because they would no longer be needed.

All good ideas. Neither you nor I will ever see it happen. Not saying it won't happen. Just not for several more generations. Minimum.

ROTTERDAM
School tax bill shocks out-of-city landowners
BY KATHLEEN MOORE Gazette Reporter
Rotterdam residents who are in the Schenectady City School District got sticker shock when they opened their school tax bills this month.

A total of 244 properties near the city line pay city school taxes, and owners had expected the same tax increase as city residents: 2.3 percent. Instead, they saw an 18.8 percent increase.

Oh, but wait, DV stated what???????   On November 5, 2011, What were DV's VERY OWN WORDS???????

Nov 5, 2011

I am pretty sure that I was speaking about the LIES that suggest that somehow taxes will go up double-digit .......---- TAXES CAN NOT GO UP MORE THAN 2%.

is it that you just can't get it or just refuse to get it ?

DV just does NOT get it!!!!!!!!!!

Mohonasen CSD and Schalmont CSD were established in the mid to late 1950's so many of the homes were built AFTER the school districts lines were drawn.  I know one family that built a home in the late 1960's on Wavell Road and knew that their lot was in the Schenectady City School District.  They actually wanted their children to be able to go to Mont Pleasant High School and NOT to Mohonasen.

Of course, the best and easiest solution is to consolidate all 6 school districts in the county into 1 school district.  Then we could have more efficient use of existing facilities and eliminate redundant administrative & support staff.

you're still funny....the government does not eliminate anything.......brick and mortar buildings will become obsolete
unless you count them as giant day care centers.....

consolidation will NOT make taxes go down, the levy will continue to go up and that taxes will continue to be equalized
and collected.....

consolidation for $$ savings is a fallacy......consolidation for control is not a fallacy

kids can stay home and have skype classes......only having to go to the corner 'lab'/sports event/practice......

they can have classes at local coffee shops/libraries/community centers/boys & girls clubs etc etc.........

humans are not cattle and the public schools need to evolve.....common core is just a 'validating title' so the schools are relevant..
the kids these days can get "common core" via the internet.....

what is the purpose of common core?
