FIRST.........thank GOD METROPLEX/GILLEN never offered them anything!! That's what most here have only hoped for!!! NO MORE METROPLEX/GILLEN BAIL OUTS!!!
SECOND......I'm confused here MC1.....you bit@h cause METROPLEX/GILLEN gives bail outs to their 'friends and family club'.....and yet you want them to bail out YOUR 'friends and family club'.
MC1...would you then approve and support the METROPLEX/GILLEN if they bailed out Civitellos, Rudnicks, Mr. James....etc...?
Oh, I would not necessarily approve of plex giving them something. It was more just an observation. In the same way it's an observation that plex did not give any money to the other long time taxpaying businesses that stuck it out in the city through the best of times and the worst of time, through the depression years and the hey day years to the DV defined "ghost town" years. But they stayed open without asking for handouts. But then in swoops plex and in collusion with the city and county dems tax the homeowners and make the taxpaying downtown (and immediate vicinity) mom and pop businesses pay the taxes of their competition that is located downtown (and immediate vicinity). And the competition are not average income people, they are millionaires who are so filthy rich they can exist and millions without one dime from the taxpayers.
So these long time taxpaying business cannot afford to pay the taxes of their competition (on top of their own taxes) and they struggle financially because plex snubs them in favor of millionaires -- and the only logical conclusion is that plex and city leaders must be getting kickbacks. Well certainly the city and county dems are getting huge campaign donations and of course just Galesi alone has created so many "phony business names) that can be super generous and the city and county dems are just taking all that and crushing their own political competition and they stay as the all powerful. And the city and dem elected leaders do NOT care about the homeowners, after all, the leaders snub the neighborhoods in favor of downtown.
Ha, wouldn't that make for an excellent episode on that TV show "American Greed" !!!!!
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

BLAH BLAH BLAH...millionaires. BLAH BLAH BLAH...businessman's fault. Why don't you go back and answer the questions and provide facts? Why do you ignore those requests and questions? Why are you not addressing the things that have been asked? Why are you trolling around without providing the facts and answers? Well, appears you cannot, since you have no facts and can't provide answers because they contradict your constant, repetitive rants! How about it MC1...step in anytime and discuss it with facts and answers, not conjecture and assumptions....those are not facts!

Schenectady's "La Piccola Italia," or Little Italy, is about to get even smaller. After operating on North Jay Street for more than 80 years, the building that houses Civitello's Spumoni Shoppe Inc. is for sale, said Roie Angerami.
Angerami and her sister, Angela Angerami, are looking to move the pastry and Italian specialties business to Clifton Park or Saratoga Springs. Roie Angerami said Civitello's building is under contract and the sale is expected to close shortly. Once those details are wrapped up, the sisters will start planning Civitello's next incarnation.
Despite Schenectady's recent investment in the Little Italy neighborhood, Civitello's has outgrown its current small cafe, Angerami said. A higher profile location will allow it to grow the two-person business and perhaps expand into mail order.
Over the past four years, city officials and community leaders developed and launched ambitious plans for Schenectady's Little Italy. Following some early successes, however, plans for the Schenectady neighborhood seemed to stall.
YUP, reply #9 on page 1 of this thread already has this! Catch up when you can!
Then why did you ask? They stated they were looking to move out of the county. Now they listed their property for sale. What is Metroplex doing? Have they offered to buy the building? Or find an occupant or investor, like they did with Cornell's?
"Still" doesn't change the fact Metroplex never publicly stated their offer to prevent Civitello's from leaving.
Are you intentionally playing a game here? "Still" referred to question if they are "STILL" intending to move and nothing to do with Metroplex. YOU already stated there was nothing public showing Metroplex offered anything, and that has not be disputed anywhere in this thread? However, the start of this topic claimed that the failure to offer incentives is reason they are looking to sell/move/close or whatever, but that is unfounded conjecture and no facts to support it.

Agree!

I have no information on what Metroplex is or is not doing in this matter. If I did, I wouldn't discuss it publicly until Metroplex made an official announcement. Having said that -- Metroplex does not discuss publicly "offers" that may be under negotiation/discussion.
Personally, I hope something is being worked out to keep Civitello's in the City-County of Schenectady.

DVOR...from what I can tell, and from what others that know that family have said, they are staying open and staying in current location, unless they can sell the building. Then they would decide how to move forward (i.e. move or whatever). Personally I think that is encouraging.

That is good to hear. I just wanted to clarify that Metroplex (and other economic development agencies) don't make it a practice of negotiating in public when trying to keep or bring in a business.

I should have added that it is just word of mouth...hopefully accurate, but I can't confirm.

That's complete bullshit. The Metroplex negotiations for the development at the ALCO site has been in the papers. Please, spare me that the economic development agencies aren't politically motivated. They are propaganda agencies.

Provide the proof to back up your statement. Show the actual reports in the newspapers which provided minutes of or even verbatim transcripts of the actual negotiations -- not the various announcements made at certain points in the process. You won't be able to because they do NOT negotiate in the media.
