Seeking reasons for poor streets
Why are the street surfaces in Schenectady in such awful condition?
Seeing that very little is being done to repair them, I have come up with two possible explanations:
1) The mayor, in his infinite wisdom, has decided to subsidize the auto repair shops by not letting the city streets be repaired. These shops are then kept busy, busy, busy repairing struts, shocks, axles, springs, tires and other car parts adversely affected by the constant pounding caused by the depressions, cavities, dips and ruts in our streets.
2) Perhaps NASA has concluded that the broken and cracked street surface found in Schenectady most closely resembles that found on the surface of the moon. So in designing a new vehicle to use on the moon, NASA might want to use our streets as a testing ground.
Is there any other rational explanation for the truly awful condition of the streets we have to drive on?
