Quite a letter in the opinion section of the paper. It's written by someone who was trying to help an elderly homeowner.
A CITY tress had roots that wee going into one of the sewer pipes of a homeowner. Remember, it is the roots from a CITY TREE (like those that ruin sidewalks and then the city forces the homeowner to repair the sidewalk) so the city was going to make the homeowner pay for the repairs
House is owned by some elderly homeowner and the city was going to force her out of her house--she could not afford to repair the pipes resulting form the city doing something wrong.
In the end, the letter writer says that she went to DSS for the homeowner to do paper work for assistance.
Since when does DSS pay for repairs to houses? Why isn't this widely publicized?
I'll tell one thing for absolute certainty, if it was roots from a tree downtown, the city would NEVER force any of the billionaires to pay for repairs, anything causing damage to the properties of the downtown property owners who are exempt from taxes would be paid for by the financially struggling homeowners.
Heck, look at the damage done by a metroplex project to the owner of the Union Inn but neither the city, the county, nor the owner of the property that is getting the plex project, nor metroplex itself, NO ONE will pay for the damage they caused, and the result is a TAXPAYING businesses closes. |
