Should we allow Schenectady to just stay this course? Or should we
focus on working together to improve the community?

YES DV, we must work together. DV, please note, we ARE working together !!!!!!
YES DV, we must focus on IMPROVING our community !!!!!
DV seems to believe that the community will improve by lavishing tax dollars on the millionaire political cronies of the city/co/plex leadership. He believes that things will improve if we look at only downtown and see pretty new buildings and avoid looking at the blight in the neighborhoods. He thinks blight will magically disappear of we ignore it. Gee, does that sound like someone who has a college degree?
So how do we work together to improve the community? By educating the people, insuring that each and every person in the city of Schenectady is aware that home values are falling and home sales are falling.
By educating the people, insuring that each and every person in the city of Schenectady knows that Schenectady has the lowest home values yet the highest taxes.
By educating the people, insuring that each and every person in the city of Schenectady is aware that the property owners downtown are millionaires and billionaires and we each and every person must be made aware that their tax bill pays the taxes on their OWN house PLUS they are paying the taxes for the millionaires.
It is IMMORAL, UNETHICAL, UNFAIR that families with total household incomes of under $40,000 should be paying the taxes of millionaires and billionaires downtown.
It is a MORTAL SIN that the poor pay the taxes of the rich.
By educating the people, insuring that each and every person in the city is aware of the direct correlation of their increasing tax bills to fund downtown and the huge increase in zombie houses despite the FACT that the real estate crisis and massive foreclosures across the country is largely ended.
By educating the people, insuring that each and every person in the city is aware of the direct correlation of their increasing tax bills to fund downtown and the drastic increase in tax foreclosures
By educating the people, insuring that each and every person in the city is aware of the FACT that today there his a higher percentage of homeowners in the city that are underwater on their mortgages than the percent that were underwater in the US during the height of the recent real estate crisis.
By educating the people, insuring that each and every person in the city is aware of the FACT that today if they spend money to improve their home, update, etc, they WILL lose money in the end.
By educating the people, insuring that each and every person in the city is aware that while downtown is being made pretty, their neighborhoods are falling apart and show them via all the boarded up houses and the blight spreading like wildfire.
By educating the people, insuring that each and every person in the city is aware of the FACT that they are NOT getting ANYTHING in return for their "investment" in downtown.
By educating the people, insuring that each and every person in the city is aware of the FACT that it has been the city/county/plex leadership of the past 10 years that has caused all this.
By educating the people, insuring that each and every person in the city is aware of the FACT that the city increases taxes on homeowners to fund downtown but then claims it has no money to do a citywide reassessment.
By educating the people, insuring that each and every person in the city will see the actual home sale prices as per official recorded deeds and see how over-assessed the city is.
By educating the people, insuring that each and every person in the city is aware of the FACT that buying a house in the city WILL mean that more than 50% of your mortgage payment will go toward the tax bill while in other communities the tax bill makes up about 20% of the mortgage payment.
By educating the people, insuring that each and every person in the city is aware of the FACT a house outside the city might be values at $150,000 and owner pays $4,000 in taxes while in Schenectady homes that are valued at $50,000 may have a tax bill of $5,000
By educating the people, insuring that each and every person in the city is aware of the FACT despite all the pretty looking new/renovated buildings downtown, the tax base for the city is falling big time and this can be proven by showing the year by year numbers
By educating the people, insuring that each and every person in the city is aware of the FACT while downtown is getting all these gin mills (at taxpayer expense), there is no place to buy anything downtown -- that whether you are buying shoes for your children or buying a new car, you MUST LEAVE downtown and you MUST LEAVE THE CITY.
