SCHENECTADY -- Police have arrested three people, including a mother and son, for their roles in setting fire to a vacant home in May.
Sardawatie Beedasee, 42, and Romal Ramgadoo, 21, were both charged with arson, along with a 14-year-old who is not being identified due to his age. Authorities say Beedasee, who owns the home that was set on fire, instructed her son to hire someone to set the fire in order to collect insurance money.
Ramgadoo allegedly hired the 14-year-old boy to set fire to the vacant property at 66/68 Linen Street..
This house was vacant house. Multiple choice: 1. Homeowners couldn't afford to pay the taxes of the billionaires downtown on top of the taxes for this house so headed to foreclosure 2. Homeowners tried to sell, but unsuccessful, no one wants to buy a house in the city 3. McTHUG cronies on the assessment board refused to reduce their assessment 4. All of the above or a combination of more than one. This is another reduction of the city's tax base, it was assessed for $70,000 (but of course worth less). Another addition to the ghost town
