SCHENECTADY -- Police have arrested three people, including a mother and son, for their roles in setting fire to a vacant home in May.

Sardawatie Beedasee, 42, and Romal Ramgadoo, 21, were both charged with arson, along with a 14-year-old who is not being identified due to his age. Authorities say Beedasee, who owns the home that was set on fire, instructed her son to hire someone to set the fire in order to collect insurance money.

Ramgadoo allegedly hired the 14-year-old boy to set fire to the vacant property at 66/68 Linen Street..

This house was  vacant house.    Multiple choice:

1.  Homeowners couldn't afford to pay the taxes of the billionaires downtown on top of the taxes for this house so headed to foreclosure
2.  Homeowners tried to sell, but unsuccessful, no one wants to buy a house in the city
3.  McTHUG cronies on the assessment board refused to reduce their assessment
4.  All of the above or a combination of more than one.

This is another reduction of the city's tax base, it was assessed for $70,000 (but of course worth less).

Another addition to the ghost town

step by step Schenectady continues its Renaissance.

House by house, Schenectady leaders continue to spread blight

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

In addition to the charges of arson and insurance fraud, these individuals will likely be prosecuted by the EPA for contributing to global warming.  They will be forced to purchase carbon credits to offset the air pollution caused.  The city/county may bill them for the costs of the time and benefits of the emergency services responding to the fire call, the water used to extinguish the fire, and a permit for outdoor burning.

Further proof that "crime doesn't pay"

scorched earth policy.....

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

This is wrong what Mother & Son did. But they were looking for an escape from the hell hole City of Schenectady like many homeowners. McCarthy has demonized the real estate market with his policies now people can't sell their house. They have to resort to burning it down very sad! Blame McCarthy for this! Schenectady is getting worst nothing is getting better.
