I do not disagree with the fact that economic growth is much needed in Schenectady...
my point is that $100 million Metroplex dollars have been used for what?? Not even a real square block of repeat restaurants and a few companies with less than 80 employees??
These millions of dollars have been wasted. Metroplex and Gillen have failed time and again on bringing jobs to the City, on lowering taxes for the residents and have created a fake façade of the real problems facing the other 99.5% of the City.
I am upset because my taxes have sky-rocketed in the past decade. I am upset because I cannot drive down Erie Blvd without losing a lug nut. I cannot fathom why DSS and Galesi keep getting millions in taxpayer money to bring in social service abusers to the City.
I am upset because the promises of Metroplex and the County leaders are simply lies.
But it is a LOT better than you folks give our community credit.
Better for whom? I've given a handful of millionaires that don't even live in the "community" a lot of my credit - in the tune of tens of millions of dollars, that me and my children have to pay back to Wall St bond holders at 3% interest.
Transfinder, which develops bus-routing software, started the year with about 77 employees and expects to reach about 90 by the end of 2014. In 2013, the software company added 157 new customers. Revenue increased from $7.9 million in 2012 to $8.6 million last year.
The company comes to Schenectady -- grows -- adds more employees -- invests more $$ in Schenectady -- really, really, really BIG news concerning a major new development coming soon -- the energy and excitement being generated by the RENAISSANCE of Schenectady is over the top.
DV you are 1,000% WRONG AGAIN as usual !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The revenue you allege above is NOT for Schenectady !!!!!!!!!!! NOTHING comes to Schenectady!!!!!!!!!!
Do you EVER bother to do some research?????
Let's see you provide one teeny weeny shred of EVIDENCE that the following documentation from OFFICIAL RECORDS is wrong!
PROOF that the city of Schenectady, the county of Schenectady, the city School district, nor the downtown "taxing" districts RECEIVES NO TAX REVENUE WHATSOEVER:
The company has had an increase in revenue but NO INCREASE IN EMPLOYEES in how long???????
The company has had an increase in revenue but NO MONEY TO SCHENECTADY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DV, tell us, tell us about the CEO, Mr Civitella. Does it's CEO LIVE IN the city and pay taxes to Schenectady in return for the 100% tax exemption on his business????? Well, DV, will you answer that?????????:
Let's see if the CEO lives ANYWHERE in Schenectady County. Uh, NOPE. CEO does NOT live ANYWHERE in Schenectady Co. Thus, the business pays no taxes whatsoever ANYWHERE IN Schenectady County. It's CEO also pays no residential taxes whatsoever ANYWHERE IN Schenectady County.
So, while the homeowner-taxpayers in the city of Schenectady pay the taxes of his business, and while we homeowner-taxpayers (of which YOU are NOT one) pay the county taxes of his business, where does Mr Civitella take the money that he saves????????
Ah, look at the lavish palace on which the CEO has spent our tax dollars.
Oh look, in Guilderland. Once again, a rich political crony of the Schenectady city/co/plex dens who takes our tax dollars and flees the county, takes our tax dollars and uses it to pay other municipalities. Lives far away from the ghost town of Schenectady. Getting rich off the taxpayers. Getting rich off creating a ghost town. In fact the CEO has gotten so rich off the taxpayers in Schenectady (by not having to pay taxes IN Schenectady) that he does not even qualify for the basic STAR exemption !!!!!
Oh look too, the equalization rate is 90% which means the property values where he lives are increasing! When Guilderland did their assessment his place was worth $768,000. And now it has increased to $854,000!
But his business, located in the city of Schenectady, has an equalization rate of 123% which means that property values are massively falling -- and this is proof that everything the dems are doing is ruining the city! Taxpayers in Schenectady pay to build these businesses, taxpayers in Schenectady pay the taxes of these businesses, and the business owners take the money and FLEE FAR AWAY from Schenectady. The business owners want NOTHING to do with living with their benefactors the blighted ghost town of Schenectady - PROOF THER EIS NO RENAISSANCE in Schenectady
Yep. The beneficiaries the tax exemptions given out by the DEM city/co/plex DEMS who won't have ANYTHING to do with living IN the city that gives them money from the pockets of financially struggling homeowners in the city.
Galesi, Imelt, Buicko, Mallozzi, Marcella, King Phillip, and now we learn of another Mr Civitella.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
The above link takes you to Saratoga county imagemate property tax information.
Check out the taxes for Malta, which is booming.
Homes up to $200,000 pay $800 tax per year.
Properties valued at $1.6 million pay $3,400 per year.
Million dollar homes in Malta pay less taxes than $100,000 homes in Schenectady.
But of course they don't have a metroplex.
DV will NOT address these FACTS, he will NOT respond and address this specifically, he will just continue to spew nonsense babble about Schenectady being in this renaissance, but he will NEVER NEVER NEVER speak about the ever increasing taxes, the ever increasing hardships for the residents, the massively falling tax base, falling home values, falling home sales, falling home sale prices, all time record high zombie houses, all time record high houses for sale, all time record high tax foreclosures, all time record high numbers of vacant residential units (combination of homeowners who have left but cannot sell their homes as well as renters who are no longer want to even rent in the city), reduced city services, and blight spreading like wildfire throughout the city's neighborhoods.
DV is much too embarrassed to ever speak when truths and facts are presented to him with evidence.
Like I have said, he won't even enter the city boundaries to attend church anymore, he goes outside the city limits.

If you think it was better when Downtown was a ghost town and the city was losing jobs every year than that is your business. All of the reasonable thinking people believe that the City-County is now headed in the right direction. You and the other nayboobs don't seem to mind the state spending over a billion dollars of state tax dollars to tear down Luther Forest and build a tech plant owned by middle eastern billionaires. Quite honestly, Pataki and his band of thieves should have invested that billion dollars in Albany, Schenectady and Troy. If split evenly, $333 million would have really helped Schenectady invest in its neighborhoods. So you can whine and complain all you like about our local leaders. But at least they are TRYING and succeeding at working with limited resources to fix the economic hand that was dealt them when they took office a decade ago.

Not a big fan of the money given to Global, but DV, even non taxpayer like yourself MUST acknowledge the TRUTH, that the area there is thriving, the homeowners are seeing a big return on their "investment" with their home values increasing very rapidly, but in Schenectady the homeowners are seeing major big time losses. And Schenectady's taxes are far far higher than up where Global is.

Succeeding???????
Succeeding at what, DV????? Well???????
Succeeding at reducing the tax base which then increases the tax burden on financially struggling homeowners?
Succeeding at reducing peoples home values
Succeeding at getting people to flee the city
Succeeding at increasing the number of empty houses in the city?
Succeeding at spreading blight throughout the neighborhoods?
Succeeding at cutting essential services to the residents while increasing the cost of those services?
Succeeding at making millionaires richer - millionaires who won't dream of living IN the city?
Most importantly, succeeding at getting kickbacks from their rich downtown political cronies!
That's right DV, keep PRETENDING that you have us blocked. You pretend that because you know we speak the truth AND we provide EVIDENCE to prove you wrong and you are too embarrassed to address the truths

His "pal" Urban left too. Nobody else wanted to play with him - his sandbox was full of BS

Let me put it this way DROR. If I invest money into say...Solyndra...Say $500 million. And they use the money to build a beautiful new manufacturing plant that is very esthetically pleasing to the eye, and they pay their top executives 6 figure salaries, but me as a shareholder, I do not see a penny in return. THEN IT'S A LOSING INVESTMENT. The only winners are the people that used my investment to build the beautiful buildings and those making the 6 figure salaries.
It's not an investment, it's corporate welfare. If it was an investment, I would share in the profits. Show me where my return is...Please...Show me...

DV won't respond and address those truths -- how all the downtown millionaires are getting richer and won't live anywhere near the city
Everyone needs to start asking DV why HE refuses to live IN the city, why he won't even rent IN the city.

Just to correct the egregious lie that was posted -- BOTH parishes that I am a member of and regularly attend are most definitely within the city limits of Schenectady. I am NOT afraid of the city -- I am in the city EVERY day of the week. It is a great place -- ALL of Schenectady County is a great place -- especially Rotterdam where my family has lived for over 120 years. If someone has a problem with that than all I can say is grow up, get a life and deal with it.

Really, then why do you REFUSE to live IN the city?????????
Of course, no answer Just tell us 1) you ARE too afraid and 2) adults avoid leaving the nest when can't support themselves
