Ah the same guy who owns Bombers downtown will get another business which will cost us taxpayers, you do know it is the same guy right?

You think having a new business open in Schenectady is a bad thing.  I think it is a good thing.
You want Schenectady to go back to being the nearly dead ghost town that it was under Bob Farley and Al Jurzynski.  I want Schenectady to continue the positive trend of economic redevelopment that it has enjoyed under the leadership of Susan Savage, Judy Dagostino and Tony Jasenski.  You prefer to live in the past whining, carping and complaining,  and I prefer to live in the present preparing the way for a better future.

FIRST.....don't blame BF and AJ for making Schenectady a friggin' mess. Place blame squarely on Generous Electric!!!!

SECOND....don't give the credit to Savage, Dago and TJ Hooker!!! Give the credit to the 'highest taxed taxpayers in the state...while giving the 'friends and family club' tax exemptions.....k? At least BF and AJ had the common sense not go after the hardworking home owners for the $$$$ for redevelopment. There is CLEARLY no return on the taxpayer's FORCED investment!

THIRD.....the only difference.....pre Generous Electric's exit....the city was owned and run by GE's UNION and the gambling kings. Today the city is owned and run by the police, firefighters and city/county UNION workers....PLUS....the friends and family club...plus the drug dealers!!!

obviously....there's a sucker born everyday who can't see the forest thru the trees.

.

Tell us DV, is a new business a good thing when financially struggling homeowners have to pay the taxes on the building?

Tell us DV, is a new business a good thing when the tax base falls because of it?

Tell us DV, is a new business a good thing when property values fall, home sales fall, home sale prices fall because of it?

Tell us DV, is a new business a good thing when taxes on the homeowners are increased while essential city services in the neighborhoods where people live, are cut?

Tell us DV, please tell us what good things the homeowners/taxpayers have gotten as a return on their "investment."     Please tell us what good things the homeowners have gotten in return.

Of course I know, all of us on these board know you will NOT respond.  That proves you agree with us, the homeowners have gotten NOTHING in return.

You see, below this line, I am listing what good things the homeowners and their neighborhoods, have gotten in return for their "investment" (their money spent on the downtown):

So, do you see my "list," in the post above, of what good things homeowners and their neighborhoods have gotten as an ROI for downtown?

You see, DV, when you asked to list what the homeowners and their neighborhoods get in return, your answer is the same as my "list,"  i.e., your lack of providing a list is the same thing as "NOTHING"  so that proves you agree with me that the homeowners are getting NOTHING good in return.

Bob Farley and Al Jurzynski were in charge of the county and the city during that time -- so they deserve the blame.  Oh -- and your comment about "friends and family" -- you seem to forget that only "friends and family" of the GOP got tax breaks and $$$ for redevelopment and quite  a few of those venture went "belly up" or amounted to $$ being flushed down the toilet.  The public employee unions were as active and powerful back then,  And, as for drug dealers, Jurzynski's police chief was one of them.

The Democratic leaders - and I would Stratton and McCarthy to that list - have done a great job of turning things around and cleaning up the mess left by Farley and Jurzynski.

So -- obviously when you made your last comment you were looking at yourself in the mirror.

And DV, tell us what drugs you are on?

DV. I know you will RERFUSE to answer this question.

Let’s see, from 1984 til 1992 who was the leader of Schenectady?   Who DV????     How about Karen Johnson.  What political party was she?   Hmmmmm?    Do you have any memory of your younger years with your two mommies---perhaps before your dementia set in??

I am taking the liberty of doing a copy/paste, but not from a tabloid like DV uses.  This is an AP story dated DURING THE DEMOCRAT PARTY LEADERHIPO OF THE CITY UNDER MAYOR KAREN JOHNSON.

This just an excerpt

SCHENECTADY GE TO CUT ANOTHER 1,500 JOBS IN 1986
JOEL STASHENKO , Associated Press
Jan. 22, 1986 4:22 PM ET

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (AP) _ The ''simply awful'' state of turbine markets will force the elimination of at least 1,500 jobs this year at General Electric Co.'s Schenectady turbine division, chief local executive George Cox said Wednesday.

''The markets continue to be depressed and the outlook here is depressing,'' Cox told about 400 business and civic leaders Wednesday at a breakfast sponsored by the Schenectady County Chamber of Commerce. ''The markets for our products are virtually non-existent.''

Cox, a GE senior vice president, said the job cuts will come through a combination of layoffs, early retirement incentives and attrition. The reductions will affect GE's ''complete organization'' in the Schenectady area, including ''hourly, secretarial and management workers,'' Cox said.

GE's turbine markets started to go sour in 1974, according to the executive, who noted that 29,000 workers were employed that year at GE facilities in the Schenectady area. By the end of 1985, the workforce had dipped under the 17,000-mark.

Cox blamed a reduced demand for electricity as the nation became more energy conscious, difficulty in securing permits for power-generating facilities and foreign competition for what he termed a ''free fall'' in the number of turbine orders at GE.
Orders for 1986 are running at about half of 1985 levels, he said.

''We face a two-headed monster,'' he said. ''In the United States - it's the collapsed utility market. Overseas - it's the ferociously competitive environment. In short, we are still a long way from even seeing a turnaround in large steam generators.''

He said he foresees only ''extremely lean years ahead'' for the Schenectady GE operation.

A $28 million deal for four turbines that GE completed last year with China was hardly a boon to GE, according to the executive.
''We were forced to close that order with little or no profit margin - just to meet the competitive world market price,'' he said. ''We had to close that deal just to keep our heads above water ... to keep our hand in the game.''

Once again, under the leadership of a DEM MAYOR !!!!!!!!!!!!!

However unlike you DV, I have far more intelligence than you do.   If you have any reading ability you will note the paragraph on the right of this image below that says, "The cutbacks are the latest in a series cutting more than 100,000 jobs from GE payrolls since 1981."

Now DV, just like you said some of the LONG TIME TAXPAYING downtown businesses closed because they couldn't run a business; well of course those of us who have brains know that the current dems deliberately put them at a financial disadvantage by making the their wealthy competition exempt from taxes, and the long time small businesses had to pay the taxes of the wealthy political cronies.

But that said, here's another story from 1994--just relevant excerpts.  Notice the bottom of the left side which quotes the executive, "He said cost reductions are needed to compete.....especially German and Swiss companies."    Then this story continues on about plans to manufacture in China and thentyou see where it references the typical pay to union workers and this is $32,000 a year and that is 20 yrs ago!   Gee, DV, do you have any guts to explain for us how a mayor of a city REGARDLESS of political party -- can magically eliminate competition form the German and Swiss companies?  Well of course your buddy dems in the city have chosen to totally 100% exempt GE in Schenectady from paying taxes so financially struggling families in the city have to bear the burden of that lost tax revenue.  So use your brain, a mayor of a city REGARDLESS of political party has no authority over the wages paid in China.  And since a local mayor does not have that authority, I will not place blame on GE job losses due to competition from foreign countries on a mayor of this city regardless of political party.

Now, how about this one.  DV, do you have need to buy a steam turbine?   Well, do your two mommies have need to buy one?:   Read the story DV, the orders are down from competition around the world so DON'T GO BLAMING AL J for the loss of jobs!!!!!!!!   The very bottom of the excerpts included I this image, look your dem buddy Hillary commenting about having new industrial policy.  Well, guess the policy needs to be to pay U.S. workers $20 a month, no benefits.  The U.S industrial policy could save money like other countries by not having safety measures -- you know, like the relatively recent news stories in Bangladesh.  Now it's known that there's lots of pollution over in some of the foreign countries too, I trust you would be happy with mothers bathing their newborns in polluted water, right?

So your comments that it's Jurzynski and/or Farley do NOT hold up.  Job losses at GE are NOT the fault of a local mayor.   Other things ARE the result of the failure of leadership -- such as the high taxes in the city because of exempting millionaires from paying taxes and the problem is these tax exempt millionaires are creating poverty wage jobs for which the income taxes withheld in state and fed are refunded in full AND they get EITC (look it up if you don't know what that means), not to mention we have to pay rent subsidy, food stamps, WIC, HEAP, Medicaid to these workers.  And the current dem leadership is TOTALLY IGNORING the neighborhoods where the taxpayers actually live.

I know, DV will PRETEND  to not have seen this post because it's embarrassing so have the truth put in front of him.

But taking money from financially struggling taxpayers to have a project that clearly was NOT necessity when the financially struggling homeowners do not get their own streets paved, or even potholes filled, in return for paying their taxes is almost criminal.

By the way, DV, if we had the time available to us, Chris and I could post enough local GE news stories about job losses under DEM leadership times that it would take you a week to read them, and probably a couple months for you to comprehend what you've read.

I trust you don't play with Barbie and Ken dolls made in China (or whatever cheap country) because that means you contribute to elimination of jobs too.

It's true, it was a different era.  There wasn't the worldwide competition as there is today with the major businesses such as GE.  And DV of course is so clueless that he thinks the Jurzynski and Farley are the sole reason GE cut.  By the time those two came into leading, GE had already cut close to 75% of it's workforce in the city due to reasons that had nothing to do with the city.

But of course, DV gets an orgasm every time he makes a comment--not matter how stupid--and he has clicked that "Post" button and then he sees his comment appear with his chosen username and he's saying OOOOHHHH    AAAAHHHHH.    But he can NEVER address details, instead, pretends people are blocked.

Yep, speaking of that, since he claims he has me blocked, that's his way of avoiding comment on the EVIDENCE that proves him wrong.

I think having a new business open in Schenectady is a wonderful thing ONLY and ONLY when done so EXCLUSIVELY at the expense of the business owner's.  NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER should financially struggling homeowners who have their own expenses of daily adult lie should NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER have to pay one penny in taxes to the business, and in Schenectady the raping of the taxpayers have NOT provided any return for the taxpayers, homeowners and residents, the theft of tax money to fund downtown has caused longtime taxpaying homeowners to lose their homes and has decimated the neighborhoods in the city.

You think that having new business on condition of stealing from the taxpayers is best

DV, as you are NOT a taxpayer and you are NOT a NORMAL self sufficient adult having to pay bills and support a family, it's easy for you to think that it's a good thing to take from the taxpayers to give to the rich downtown.  You have to rich nannies you live with, you are an adult age child living without  care in the world, you have no worries whatsoever of worrying about losing your house to tax foreclosure, and as your aunties seen fit to take care of you little boy for well over 20 years without forcing you to grow up and become an adult, then it's obvious you haven't a care in the world and it's easy for you to cheer for the city to take homes away from taxpayers in order to exempt millionaire political cronies of the dems from paying taxes.

Why you believe that it's acceptable for the city to tax homeowners (with incomes of only about $40,000 a year) higher under threat of taking away their homes in order to give that money to millionaires is totally beyond me and totally beyond EVERYONE on these board, and of course you REFUSE to explain why you believe its acceptable and you REFUSE to explain how the theft from the homeowners is improving the neighborhoods and providing a return on investment to the homeowners.

You want to see the neighborhoods become the ghost town.

I want to see Schenectady improve for the residents in such a way that they can afford to buy a home, afford to live in the city, and their neighborhoods are not infested with the vermin of zombie houses, boarded up homes, and the blight that the neighborhoods have become during the past 10 years of dm leadership

Normal and intelligent people, like the better-half and me, cheer for economic redevelopment.  But as homeowners and taxpayers, no one gives us handouts no matter how financially strapped we are.  And therefore it is WRONG, it is IMMORAOL, it is UNETHICAL, it is UNACCEPTABLE, for the leadership of this city and county to take one penny from the homeowners, taxpayers, and residents to give anything to millionaires for their benefit.  DV, I DEFY you to state what benefits the homeowners and their neighborhoods have received in return for their so called "investment" in downtown.  Tell us how forcing them to pay for downtown under threat of taking their homes away is a good thing.  Well???   Hos is it good?   Can you answer that?   Will you answer that?

You prefer to whine about past administrations.  We who are intelligent have seen how good it was prior to 10 years ago, when taxes were lower, home values were stable and/or increasing, when homes were occupied, when neighborhoods were safer etc. and we have seen the horrific problems that have arisen in the past 10 years, we are seeing the growing ghost town and the wildfire of blight spreading throughout all the neighborhoods and we recognize that this is due to the city raping the homeowners, putting them in dire financial straights, all in the name of giving taxpayer money to the millionaires in order for the local politicians to get their kickbacks.

I guess you missed the announcement of the new German restaurant (the Biergarten) that will open.

More gin mills downtown at taxpayers expense.  This means more foreclosures, more blight, growing ghost town.

The DEMS have NO CLUE how their tax-and -spend habits have decimated the City taxbase. Let's look at Mayor Johnson in 1986 and her $80 million dollar canal square project. Um...that never happened and where is the $5 million which was earmarked for this project??????

"JOHNSON OPTIMISTIC ON PROJECT

Two bricks from the remains of the ABC Building at the corner of the Canal Square Smith Street Promenade and Broadway now sit on the desk of Mayor Karen B. Johnson.

"They are a symbol of one of the corners of the proposed Kossow project," Johnson said Monday regarding demolition of the building as part of massive preparations for the planned $80 million, three-phase office building project. The city Monday also acquired the G & G Equipment Co. building at 233-237 Broadway and recently purchased the former Grand Cash Market at the corner of Broadway and Hamilton Street.

Both buildings are facing demolition to make way for the ambitious downtown redevelopment.

"If everything falls into place, we could have an April or May ground- breaking, but that's an optimistic target date," Johnson said of the project city officials feel will turn around the fortunes of downtown.

The project is being proposed by Julian R. Kossow, a Florida real estate developer.

The mayor said George L. Robertson, president of the Schenectady Industrial Development Corp., and Gregory Semos, director of the city's Department of Economic Development, were in Washington today exploring possible Economic Development Agency funding for a $17 million, five-level, 750-car parking garage.

The garage is scheduled to be topped by nine stories of office space.

Johnson said David R. Atkins, commissioner of the Schenectady County Department of Planning, also was heavily involved in seeking funding for the parking garage.

The mayor said Robertson and Semos also had been working with the state Urban Development Corp. seeking financial support for the Kossow project.

"We've had a very good response to our attempts to lease office space in advance, which is one of the keys to the project," the mayor said without elaborating about potential tenants.

It is known the county already has committed itself to leasing one full floor of office space.

During Monday's City Council meeting, Councilman Albert P. Jurczynski said the council should be given city staff reports on the Kossow project every 30 days.

He said the council had taken it for granted it had the Todd Corp. proposed industrial laundry development, slated for Albany Street, locked up, but that the venture had recently been lost to the city of Troy.

"I haven't been hearing anything about the Kossow project, and I don't want a repeat of the Todd Corp. outcome. I see the start of old building demolition, which is a good sign, but I want these staff reports so we can keep abreast of the project," Jurczynski said."

Fast forward almost 30 years, and we have 10 years of more dem leadership and the city tax base is in massive fall, falling home values, falling home sales, falling home sale prices, increasing taxes, developers getting taxpayer dollars with homeowners losing their homes in record numbers, all time record high numbers of zombie houses, record high numbers of vacant residential units, record high numbers of abandoned properties, blight spreading like wildfire, and record high numbers of people who have fled the city, and absolutely beautiful, very well-built houses, that are empty because no one, NOT EVEN DV or his two mommies are willing to move into the city.

But more importantly, fast forward almost 30 years, and 10 year years of suffering under the dems

AGAIN in city under dem leadership

AGAIN wild uncontrolled spending of taxpayer money by the dems

AGAIN no accountability, no reporting to the taxpayers of how their money is spent

AGAIN, no reporting by the dems that states the ROI for the HOMEOWNERS who are paying

You really are living in the past.  Why don't you try living in the 21st century?
