Just like all other counties are being financially crushed by county nursing homes, other governments are looking to privatize which is much more economical and saves taxpayers a fortune, a new palace has open in Schenectady Co
My God, rooms that are 20 x 20???? WHY does ANY ELDERLY person need a room that big? That's bigger than most peoples' living rooms (well, except Galsei an the other political cronies of the dems)
And checkout that humongous shower in the story, and looks like very elaborate lavish tile, Why does ANYONE need a shower that big. Heck that's way bigger than the showers at the honeymoon resorts in the Poconos! What's the county's plan? To have patients invite their neighbors in for an orgy in the showers? That could fit at least 4 wheelchairs (hope they are rust proof. Geez, all they need is a tile floor with an acrylic (or similar) surround.
High pay, lavish benefits and bloated benefits combined with such expensive showers is going to break us.

SCHENECTADY — For close to 200 residents of the Schenectady County nursing home, move in day to a new, cozier $45 million facility will be Monday morning.
Raina Danish and her boyfriend Mike Faiola of Colonie were among those who were impressed with the three-story residence on Hecheltown Road that has roughly 20-by-20 foot rooms with spacious showers and an open feel.
Faiola's mother, who is 80 and suffers from dementia, has been at Glendale for about four months.
"This is like a home," proclaimed Danish after the guided tour. "When you think of somebody living out the rest of their lives you want it to be like a neighborhood."
That's the reaction county leaders and nursing home officials were hoping for during the site's opening ceremony and ribbon cutting Wednesday.
"The design of the building itself is beautiful, but it's a beautiful tool that allows us to give control of their life back to residents at the highest level," said Glendale Administrator Ed Marchi. "I think this is going to be beyond anything that anybody ever imagined."
County legislators Tony Jasenski and Gary Hughes talked about the decade-long journey to get the nursing home for $5 million under budget.
Eight-five percent of construction costs will be paid for through a Medicaid capital reimbursement program, and 15 percent will come from a 30-year bond, county officials have said.
The old Glendale nursing home, located behind the new one, will be demolished in July. The site will be turned into a parking area and green space.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
this is all being done for the new and up coming boomers!!

Don't worry....the county extorted the taxpayers and will now 'hand it over' to a local business person to run it privately....
corporate welfare is grand......
And tell us, during an election year, they are doing this to "save" taxpayers dollars. This after putting the taxpayers on the hook for the expense. Win-Win.

Glendale is unionized and is a voting block for the dems. the only way they will hand it over to a private entity would be contingent upon keeping it union.
