The businesses that fail, are failing, because they can't compete with corporate welfare whores, who pay no taxes and take bribes to come here and crush our small businesses out of existence.
Morettes would not be closing if they got the same deal as Johnny's.
Stop blaming the victims of corporate welfare and nepotism.
First, your assertions that I have no business experience are a complete lie. As were your assertions that I don't own property. You and your ilk are nothing but a bunch of pathological liars.
The shop on Jay Street that is closing -- didn't do much advertising and quite frankly had very high priced items that really were not in demand in this market.
Morette's - I will just say that most people who eat out prefer a clean place with good quality food. That USED to be the case at Morette's MANY years ago.
Johnny's is clean, has great service and serves quality food at a fair price. And even - the owners of Johnny's learned that there are no guarantees of success when running a business.

Anyone can claim they have business experience. But obviously since you do not work in or own a business, that proves your business experience meant your termination. Yeah, you worked in an insurance business. How come you aren't even licensed anymore?
Your claims that taxes are lower than in the past (whether 10 years ago or 50 years ago - as you have made both claims) prove that you have NEVER owned property, that is further reflected in the FACT that you no understanding whatsoever what a property owners go through when governments take their money and give it away to the rich.
You claimed to own property? Then tell us WHY you have been living with two elderly nannies for over 20 years?
And explain HOW you claim the stuff in that store were overpriced? Morriette's isn't clean, we haven't been there in a few years as we don't go out to eat, but for sure your figured and your endless talking about food and prices and what restaurants have prove you are eating out all the time (very unhealthy). But you REFUSE to explain HOW a long time TAXPAYING business can invest money into it's business when the government STEALS money from the business to give it to the competitors of the business????
You PROVE you know NOTHING about business because you keep claiming endlessly that the businesses downtown close because they don't know how to operate a business. Explain why long time TAXPAYING businesses who existed successfully when downtown was a ghost town are failing ONLY AFTER the government takes money away from them to give it away to the rich political cronies.
Again, a long time TAXPAYING hairstyling business stayed in business even when downtown was a ghost town. The government comes in, taxes the hairstyling business more, and taxes that business' money and gives it to a billionaire to open up a hairstyling business that does not have to pay taxes. DUH, DV, if you had a brain you'd know that the government put the long time business out of business.
A long time TAXPAYING restaurant stays in business when downtown is a ghost town. Government comes in, makes the business pay higher taxes and government takes the money from the taxpaying business to give the money to millionaires to open new restaurants. The long time business pays it's own taxes PLUS it has to pay the tax4s of it's competitors! So, the taxpaying business has no money to invest in it's own business--be it remodeling the business, choosing to offer more kinds of food, of what ever The long time TAXPAYING business has to fork over money to it's competitors.
Just keep grasping at straws DV. The long time taxpaying business get NOTHING from the government, instead they had ot pay their own bills AND the bills, remodels, and taxes of their competitors who are millionaire political cronies of the city/co/plex leadership. These long time businesses have all stated that they closed because they had to pay for their competitors and the city/co/plex totally snubbed them.
So, what happens DV, when there are no more long time taxpaying businesses in the city?????
So, what happens DV, when there are no more homeowners left in the city to pay for Galesi's taxes????
Of course, DV will NOT address how the govt steals money from long time businesses and gives that money to their rich political cornies

I drove through downtown Gloversville, Johnstown, Scotia, Albany and Schenectady today. The best looking downtown by far was Schdy!
Children in high school are often all about looks too.
"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
How do you explain the vacant properties? The crumbling infrastructure? The high taxes? The substandard schools? The homes that NEVER sell? The slum lords? The drug dealers/addicts? The pension padding? The dss building has more foot traffic than downtown? The fact that the city is nothing more than a sh!thole?
As a side note....how many folks were on welfare 10+ years ago compared to today?

Drive through Ballston Spa or Saratoga? They actually have retail. Gloversville has a Downtown food coop. No retail Downtown let alone a food market. For that residents must drive over the bridge to Gabriel's in Scotia. Since $100 MILLION has been dumped Downtown by taxpayers paying the regressive sales tax on facades and curbs I would hope it looked better. Did you drive to lower State? What doesn't look better is the flat County sales rate and the City property resale rates the 2 things that Metrograft was created to improve. An economic development czar handing out tax breaks to the friends and family club will never work.
The shop on Jay Street that is closing -- didn't do much advertising and quite frankly had very high priced items that really were not in demand in this market.
"... items really were not in demand..."
Oh, a frame someone bought? So NO ONE buys frames to put photos or paintings in, huh?
OK, How about cars, are you going to say that cars are not in demand? People are not buying cars? Tell us DV where IN THE CITY there is a car dealership??????? Huh????? Other than the fly-by-night dealers.
Computers and related electronics are not in demand? Where downtown is there a computer store?????
Dresses, suits (for men and women), coats, hats, gloves, shoes, sneakers, underwear, play clothes, children's clothes, teen's clothes, women's clothes, men's clothes, lingerie, I guess those are not in demand, huh? Where are the stores downtown that one can buy clothes, huh??????? Well??????????
Bedding needs, bath accessories, dishes, flatware, tablecloths, wall decorations, curtains, drapes, blinds, carpets, little kitchen needs (small appliances, storage, pots and pans, etc). Where do you go downtown to buy those things?
Plants, outdoor furniture, décor, BBQ stuff. WHERE does one buy those things downtown????? HUH??????
Hardware, tools, seasonal needs (mowers, clippers, blowers, shovels, etc). Where does one buy that stuff downtown?????
Craft supplies, sewing machines, art supplies, fabric, yarn. Where does one buy these things downtown???????
You claim that store didn't do much business because it didn't sell things that were in demand. Well, DV look at all the things I listed here that are in demand and essential. Because all these things I listed are things people will buy, tell us DV, tell us WHY these things are not sold anywhere downtown?????????
Come one cowardly cuckoo DV, tell us why no stores want to open downtown???????????
Of course, as usual, DV things everything is all rosy in Schenectady, it's doing so wonderful with the tax base falling, blight spreading like wildfire/
DV WILL ABSOUTELY POSTIVIELY NOT ADDRESS THE FALLING TAX BASE, THE BLIGHT, AND THE ASBOLUTE TOTAL LACK OF ABILITY TO BUY ANYTHING DOWNTOWN. Remember I have predicted he will NOT speak on these items -- other than nonsense babble claiming the "nayboobs" have nothing too say.

They want everyone to live there - but there's not even a dang grocery store (other than convenience type stores). Hell, even Arthur's Market (a fellow polock DV) couldn't stay in business.

Tearing down what?
So, in your mind if we stop talking about the massively falling tax base, everything is going to be grand in the cty?
If everyone just accepts the great loss of equity in their homes because home values are falling, the city is going to thrive?
So, if everyone pays their taxes plus the taxes of the rich and they go without medicine and food, life will be rosy in the city?
Accepting a loss of vital essential services while paying increasing tax bills and everyone should just bow down and praise the leadership is going to magically transform the city?
So I guess you think that just shutting up, paying higher taxes, losing money. being unable to pay your bills is going to stop the foreclosures, it's going to stop the spread of blght?
You really have major screw lose

How about YOU get off your child-like life, start living like a normal adult man, and help the city by buying a house IN the city and paying taxes??????
