There's been a rise in police activity on Crane ave the last few weeks.

Friday Afternoons, Police can be seen walking the avenue.

I guess they finally found out that drugs can be purchased at any "foreign" run stores on the street.

Drugs are available at these fine retailers:

Mr. Discount
Chubbys
American Deli (next to family dollar)
Adam Deli

Its a shame what Crane St is like today, that used to be a very decent area.

As long as They Don't Mess with The 5$ Mix and Match!!

At the corner of Chrisler and Crane, there are also 2 police surveillance cameras.

The apartment above(behind) American deli was also raided 2 weeks ago.

Keep in mind the cost of all of the police actions up there are astronomical and the net result was a couple pot arrests.

Spending big money hunting pot users and sellers will soon be a lost art.

The cops are just getting what they can, while the gettin is still good.

Plus keep in mind, the entire city has similar places for the same customers.

Van Vranken Ave, the Stockade Deli, several on State St, Albany St, McClellan St and Eastern Ave.

Just to name a few.

I also saw 2 cops walking the beat downtown one day, and a single female cop walking the beat on State St. one day as well.

The pot arrests are undoubtedly due to neighbor's complaints. As long as pot sales generate revenue - the market will also precipitate violence.  Get the law changed and take the money out of the equation.  It's that simple.

And of course, in the world of Libertarian - all efforts by law enforcement must have some malevolent motive.

Wonder what the cops would do if they saw one of the many stray pit bulls that walk the streets on Crane?

what is REALLY DISGUSTING are the multifamily houses on state from Marino's down to Nott.

try to count the satellite dishes.....talk about eye sore cheese.....but I bet they're all subsidized.

Motive....Job security...That's why Kazmerak was allowed to run drugs while the SPD turned a blind eye until he was out of the position of Chief.  It's easy to go after and lock up poor minorities, it gets you a promotion and a higher salary.  After all, the poor minorities are powerless.  Then give the poor minorities a felony drug conviction, and then they can't vote to change the laws or crooked enforcers.

People need to understand, cops work for the lawmakers, not the average citizen.  They are not there to help anybody, their job is to make sure you are following the laws they were hired to enforce.

I never said "malevolent."

I also never said  "all efforts by law enforcement."

You are suggesting getting the law changed to take the profits out of it for the sellers.

The only problem I have with the sellers is not paying taxes on the sales.

I would like to see the law changed to take the taxpayers financing of the hunting, surveillance and incarceration costs.

I say no.

Money has merely been transferred from the targeted area to the bank accounts of the police, lawyers, courts and jailers.

You can't arrest poverty away.

Not when it costs $150,000 a year to keep someone locked up.

The taxpayers are being crushed, homes are being taken at a higher rate then any time in history.

White guys also buy, sell and smoke pot.

But they aren't in the targeted area meant for cleansing.

I don't see it as crooked enforcement, simply massive transfer of wealth from the poor to the very well to do.(the police, the courts, the jailers and the lawyers)

How exactly does arresting them improve your life?

Drug use is part of the American culture.

Every effort to change it has failed and bankrupted society everywhere.

When drug war support dwindled, they switched over to the war on terror to keep control of our money.

Going bankrupt and improving absolutely no one's lives in the process, except for the enforcers, is unsustainable.

Failure is imminent.
