A hero in the military must go above the call of duty. You cannot enlist in the military and expect to automatically be considered a hero. Being drafted to go to Vietnam is not heroic either, it was against the persons will, at that point they were nothing more than government slaves sent to kill or die. The draft dodger was the hero, since they took a heroic stand in the face of state punishment.

When did I say "evil"? Actually, I would bet you consider the 9-11 attackers "evil"(as do I), but...among those in their society they are considered "heroic" for their "sacrific". Are the 9-11 attackers less noble than any other soldier because of the method they used to accomplish a mission defined by their leader? I'm sure you have the answer.

Read the definition of hero. Jane Fonda wasn't a hero to you, but was to those that believed in her cause. She risked her reputation and charges of treason for daring to do what she did. You may not agree with her, but she did take a considerable risk she did not have to take. She could have sat back while 58k of her fellow citizens died for no reason(except to make a few people millions of dollars off their dead bodies)

Don't worry those slobs are heroes to somebody be it their kids or their spouse, it takes a lot to go out every day and bust your a$$ for low wages. They don't get the parades or special privileges those who wear a uniform get even though they sacrifice just as much.

I could give two shits about Awlaki, that could just as well have been you(who I also could give two shits about) and your son droned to death extra judicially without being charged or given due process. I would have even defended YOUR rights as a US citizen. Not because I like you, but there is a process before you take life and property. You on the other hand, if an American has a funny name and is legally visiting another country, and if the president thinks he needs to be killed in a land 10,000 away because he is an immediate threat to security, the president can count on your blind support, no evidence necessary. That's why you "served" right? To protect "our freedom"?
