They updated ALL of the infrastructure under Erie Boulevard - including the wires/cable/optic.  This was a wise decision and a great use of taxpayer money.  Better to fix it all at once than to come back in a couple of years and rip it up to fix infrastructure.  We need MORE of this kind of common sense, wise spending, long range thinking  projects in our area.

oh yeah, we had the discussion in Rotterdam but they prefer to add 'FEES'....I guess that is proper
government stealing. Forget about progress or posterity, the only posterity are those that affect COLA's and raises.

and you, DV, are also not making any sense, as usual.   How about addressing the FACXT that another LONG LONG TIME TAXPAYING business is being put out of business because your buddy dems are forcing the business to pay the taxes of the rich cronies of the dems.

I used to like this place but the quality of the food had gone way down in recent years. Steak-Um's on a flat grill, with processed toppings on top Small variety of low quality food, my only surprise is this didn't happen sooner.

Agree.
Also, the 'restaurant landscape' has changed via METROPLEX/GILLEN.
They just can't compete.

The "restaurant landscape" has changed via CUSTOMER'S LIKES AND TASTES.   Restaurants that appeal to customers survive and thrive.  Restaurants that don't -- close.

Hamburg Street 'fix' never happened....what to do to keep it out of the 'ghetto' that's moving from the city into
Rotterdam.

we can keep the bar lowered or we can pull up our bootstraps and make it something....but NOOOOOOOOOO
we worry about the fu(king leaf pick up and service....and steal from the resident's via THE FU(KING
COMPOSTING....

HOW SHORTSIGHTED CAN WE BE.....no vision, no future.......Rotterdam will be swallowed up by the blight, but our
FU(KING LAWNS WILL LOOK DECENT UNTIL THE END....then we will be like detroit suburbs

You apparently have a difficult time staying on topic and then babble on incoherently about a variety of other things.

Hamburg Street has never really been fixed because NO administration of EITHER party is willing to push to have sewers built.  Without sewers, no major developer or new business is willing to invest on Hamburg Street.  This is a shame because it is perfectly situated near I-890 snd I-90.

The real answer to the other issue is to end brush pickup service COMPLETELY and close the compost facility.  Neither is a necessary service for a municipality to provide.

Finally, Detroit has great suburbs, and Detroit, itself, will get back on the right track.

The same can be said of Erie Blvd.. well ... the neglected section. NOTHING has been done by the Blvd Bowl. Grossmans closed, Gallo left, Mike's Hot Dogs never received a Plex handout and the graffiti is out of control.

Good businesses close in the City because they aren't connected...not because they aren't sound.

No business which pays full property and school taxes, sales taxes and maintains their on property can compete with a completely tax-exempt, empire tax-receiving, façade grant, Metroplex funded entity.

Schenectady has an unbalanced business climate and when those tax-exempt businesses lose their exemption status in 1- years, the downtown ghost-town will reappear.

All this talking won't do much, and we have the nerve to pay taxes,to these crooks! How about holding a march,or a sit in,or better yet, everybody stop paying taxes and lets shut the city down, only then will any of us make a real difference! Sittingbehind high speed cable Internet connections and complaining on forums won't make anything happen. Stop talking and take action,we are all taxpayers for gods sake!!!!

In the City of Schenectady, there has not been any opposing voices to issues. Forums like this give people the opportunity to learn the truth behind the façade. People like Vince Riggi voice the truth... mostly to the deaf ears of those on the City Council...but at least he is telling it like it is.

Taxes cannot be astronomically high in the City for no reason. Metroplex and the Mayor (along with his spineless Council minions) have created a blackhole for which the City cannot escape. All the million-dollar-taxpayer-funded-downtown-restaurants are killing the residents of this City....and each time Galesi gets another $25 million dollar grant to build a homeless shelter, more families of the City leave.

The truth is being told, and for the first time in decades.

And of courses YOU, DV, know NOTHING about business!   And THAT is why YOU do not own a business and THAT is why YOU are not a taxpayer.

When billionaires come in and political parties exempt them from paying taxes, their business expenses are lower and they have an UNFAIR ADVANTAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's it in a nut shell.   When a LONG TIME TAXPAYING mom and pop business has to pay their own taxes AND pay the taxes and remodels of the millionaire political cronies of the government leaders, then the taxpaying business has no money left to invest in his/her own business

But of course, we cannot expect you, who never owned a business nor have ever been self sufficient paying expenses and taxes to understand, so why do you even bother to spew your brownnosing babble - and look, your brownnosing nonsense babble is not making you into a self sufficient independent adult paying his own mortgage or rent, it also is not scoring any points with the politicos you are trying to impress.

The other end of Erie Boulevard will look great once Mohawk Harbor is built with the movie studio and casino.

Really?

And tell us DV, what happens when the city completes 20,000 foreclosures?

Who is going to pay the taxes for the millionaire dem cronies?

Why do you avoid telling us when you are going to buy a house IN the city?    You will be the ONLY taxpayer because the city, outside of downtown is going to be one big ghost town.   Haven't you noticed how it is quickly becoming a ghost town already?  Haven't you seen the EVIDENCE via all the vacant houses?????

Oh that's right you will not respond and address blight spreading like wild fire.   You post and respond about the city having a record high number of houses not seen in the city's multi hundred year history!
