Was out in the woods early this morning, as I made my way to my car I did a quick search and nothing. So off back to home I went, tossed in some beef in the dehydrator to make some jerky and sat down to watch some TV, all a sudden I feel the hair on my arms start to tingle, sure enough the little bastard was crawling up my arm. I picked him up and tossed him in the ashtray after 2 failed attempts to crush him, so I grabbed my BIC lighter, the pic below should tell you of his fate

There is going to be a segment on either ch. 10 or 8 Monday night at 10pm about ticks, drs need to take it more seriously. In fact I have an apt
this week going to ask to get tested again, I don't think all the symptoms Ive been having are all MS related.

My dog has lyme disease - something she's had for years and still has flareups.  Not a fun thing to go through, I'm sure.

We are advised NOT to judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics.   Funny how that works.

ALBANY, N.Y. – A team of doctors, working to find a new alternative treatment for Lyme Disease, were in Albany on Saturday.

At a local forum, the doctors revealed new treatments, offering hope to those struggling with the disease in the Capital Region.

The disease is a global fight against, what seems like a small rival, ticks. However, those smalls ticks are responsible for affected the health of thousands of people.

Doctor Ronald Stram said the amount of people affected, makes it difficult to make a proper diagnosis.

“We can neither tell if someone has an acute infection or if they have chronic persistent infections,” Doctor Stram said.

At the Linda Theater in Albany, the doctors converged to discuss the latest advancements in alternative treatments. They also discussed new testing techniques that may help in diagnosing the disease more accurately.

Dr. Stram said the hope in treating Lyme Disease is coming from across the Atlantic, with doctors in Germany immersing themselves in new cutting edge treatments.

Dr. Stram and his team now want to bring relief to those people in the Capital Region. He has already used the new testing techniques in his own practice.

Tune in on Monday to NEWS10 ABC on Fox23 at 10 p.m. for  a special report on Lyme Disease.

Tick tick tick tick tick...

I attended a seminar on Ticks sponsored by Fulton County last year.  Nathan Littauer Hospital
had an ER doctor who spoke on the dangers of tick bites.  Then a "tick expert" from Univ of RI gave
a very interesting presentation.
You can find a lot of information here:
http://www.tickencounter.org/

There is a new tick making it's way to our area from NJ.  "The Lone Star Tick" is a bad one and will
likely arrive in the area soon if it isn't here already.
See "tick identification" from the above site, then click on New England or Mid Atlantic.

The one I had today I believe was just a basic deer tick, although I didn't let him hang out long enough to really get a good look. I'm thinking of getting a set off tick repellent clothes for when I'm out and about in or around the woods, although they're not cheap

Not all docs are readily active on testing for lymes. If you don't have the 'bullseye'...they are reluctant to do the blood test. Some insurance companies require the 'bullseye' before they ok the blood test.
