We all know that the dems have chosen to exempt GE from paying property and school taxes, a company so pathetically filthy riceh, but instead the city/co dems are getting kickbacks from this multibillion company while the families with incomes of $40,000 are forced to pay GE's taxes (and if the homeowners can't afford to pay GE's taxes on top of their own, the city steals their homes).

Anyway, in return for being exempt from paying taxes:

Quoted Text
General Electric’s $17 billion bid to buy the power generation and transmission business of Alstom would likely have an impact on GE’s Schenectady operations, but whether it would result in job losses here isn’t clear.

GE CEO Jeffrey Immelt, to sweeten the deal to acquire the French manufacturer, has offered to headquarter GE’s European power business in France, and to increase the number of high-value manufacturing and engineering jobs there, the Wall Street Journal  reported Wednesday morning. Whether those jobs would come from Schenectady isn’t clear.

GE’s renewable energy businesses also are headquartered in Schenectady.

Alstom’s board has accepted the latest GE offer and the company is starting a one-month review of the deal, the Journal reported.

They used to pay $1,500,000 in just city tax in 2007.   Now they pay $0.    Niskayuna and the County is getting the money for the research though....... Another case of the county raping the city.   Because working together works.

I saw that.   The core problem I have is that the "PILOT" line on the budget never ever shows an amount near the amounts that should be there based upon all the PILOTS that Metroplex touts.  Can someone show me through the smoke and mirrors?

And why shouldn't  those who actually pay taxes, the homeowners, be just allowed the ability to pay a flat cost for the next 10 years?

Instead, as the municipal spending gets even more excessive, the homeowners, those financially struggling, those on fixed incomes, etc will keep paying increase taxes with every passing year.

If GE did choose to build new stuff on their property, they would NOT get an increase assessment and they'd be guaranteed not paying anything more in the future.

Bu a homeowner who makes necessary repairs may have their assessment increased which will increase their taxes.  And if the homeowner does NOT do anything to redo their house will still see an increase in taxes.   AND when the value of the house of the homeowner falls, that homeowner will STILL have their taxes increased.

Protection for the rich and kickbacks for the city/town/co/plex dems.
