Hey how about some volunteers on these boards to take 5 minutes, look up on city council agenda's the addresses of all tax cedrtoraris on the agenda. Maybe going back a year or so Post the addresses here Then let's see what the changes were when the assessment roll is made public.
Just take a look, look up on maybe two agenda (one month worth of meetings)
And list what you find.
It won't show what the assessment was or what it will be. jus interested in the addresses. We can then look up what the assessments are.
Only problem is some agenda items are listed by the owner name instead of address. See what you can come up with.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
Ha ha. Let's watch how soon council agendas disappear
Or the puppet clerk will remove the term "tax certiorari" from the council agenda and just use "settle a claim"

wow.....MC has some pull.....how come he is not doing this if he is so intent on finding out this info.....
Saves a little time.
What is one piece of information that lends itself to successful grievance? Why do property owners need to go to tax certiorari? Because the puppets on the board of assessment refuse to grant reductions. Certorari's are just more proof,
Why aren't records of tax certorari's published by the city in easy to find and read format?
Even look at assessment rolls, why aren't they in file formats so that the taxpayers can easily get information and compare?

So true. And it is this that people need to be informed of.
Now first the dems in the city screw the homeowners by refusing to do a citywide reassessment when homes are so over-assessed.
Then the dems in the city screw the homeowners by forcing them to spend money to get their assessments reduced.
Some people will pay money to hire attorneys to do the grievance work for them. Others will pay "tax adjusters" to do the grievances.
But most people in the city are financially struggling and cannot afford an attorney or tax adjuster. They can put a grievance together themselves, but people have jobs, they have families, they are raising children, and trying to maintain their homes, but the dems in the city basically tell them, "if you want to grieve, you are going to have to take the time to research, the information is public, but we are not going to make it easy for you."
I would make a million dollar bet that the city uses Access and/or Excel. So why do they post assessment info in pdf format on their website? If they put it in a software format that they surely use, then they could have it in that format on their website so people could download it and doing a query a homeowner would be able to have the information to compare assessments over two or three years instantaneously.
It is said that the board denies grievances based on "insufficient data," but the city won't give people the public information, i.e., "data," even though the people have paid for the data.
While sales data is the best information people can use, it would be helpful for homeowners to be able to show changes in assessment from last year to this year. Certorari claims are found by researching council meetings and comparing assessments rolls. SCAR information can only be checked by a tedious check of property by property. And that means checking properties which homeowners which have not grieved, regardless of reason. People do not know who has put in a grievance in the past. but people NEED to be able to tell the board something like "all these houses in my neighborhood received reductions because they grieved." And the thing is that people should have easy access to this information.
The public, the homeowners NEED to know that the city is way overassessed and they need to be adequately informed that the city refuses to a citywide reassessment. The people need to know that they need to start grieving by the thousands. If only they would grieve by the thousands and if it made big headlines, front page, top TV news stories, then people would start making the connection of how the city is screwing them. But I guess maybe the intelligent people have left the city, those that are left are renters who don't have a clue (and so don't tell their landlords), landlords who don't care because they just raise the rent, renters whose rent is paid by tax dollars and so don't care, and other people who don't have a clue they are paying the taxes of millionaires on top of their own.
And those who live outside of the city need to be concerned too because we pay county taxes, and also what is in the city spills into the towns, And God forbid, whatever happens in relation to consolidation, I don't even want to think about that.

Yeah, I'm working on stuff now going back to 2012. PROOF! EVIDENCE! That what we "nayboobs' say is 1,000% FACTUAL TRUTH.
And again, we are not trying to "be negative" but rather we are stating the TRUTH for all to see, and because the truths are negative, they need to be addressed and corrected.
And since the FACTS are that all the wild uncontrolled spending on downtown is RUINING the city, as proven by the regular ANNUAL reduction in tax base, falling property values, reduction in services to the taxpayers coupled with increased taxes, falling home values coupled with increased taxes. falling home sales coupled with increased numbers of homes being put up for sale. etc.
It's time the cheerleaders for the city face the truth!
