The Schenectady Municipal Housing Authority has illegally and silently impose rent control in the City of Schenectady. Owners that are requesting annual rent increases to cover the mortgage, increased taxes/ fees, increased property insurance and maintenance costs are finding themselves denied by the Schenectady Municipal Housing Authority. The glut of abandoned properties/foreclosures is pushing the demand for renters to find suitable housing. Thus, the higher demand of renters is pushing rental prices per unit higher. The Schenectady Municipal Housing Authority has blatantly ignored the crisis in the City of Schenectady housing market. The Schenectady Municipal Housing Authority needs to stop regulating prices per rental unit if they don't property owners will no longer be able to afford to provide housing to the poor. The poor will have no where to live only to live on the streets of Schenectady.
MHA I believe goes by income of the tenant and the price is regulated by their income.

Well, a mayor who is so un-Christian as to have a big celebration on Holy Thursday is obviously equally as un-Christian to put the poor out on the street. But that's nothing new as he is so un-Christian as to put homeowners out of their homes by taking their homes away from them when those homeonwers can't pay the taxes of his millionaire political cronies downtown.

A RENTAL PRICE FOR AN APARTMENT IS DETERMINED BY THE OPEN MARKET RATE. SMHA IS SUPPRESSING THAT RATE! BY THE WAY MCTHUG HAS TIES TO SMHA AND IS INFLUENCING THE PRICE FOR RENTING AN APARTMENT IN THE CITY OF SCHENECTADY. MAYOR MCTHUG IS A VIRUS THAT DOESN'T GO AWAY IT JUST SPREADS! TENANTS INCOMES ARE ASSESED FOR THEIR PORTION OF THE RENT.
Section 8 killed the free market rates, landlords jacked prices through the roof if they are able to accept it and most do. No fan of Mcthug but the problem is way bigger then him. Worst part is I don't see things changing anytime soon

Landlord don't jack the prices because they feel like. They are forced to jack the rent up because the tax, fee keeps climbing up each year! Its fu(king simple! Pay the Landlord the asking rent so he can pay the taxes! Section 8 needs to pay the Landlords increases so they can stay afloat if not Schenectady will be a ghost town twice again!
it would take a year or more to catch up on the increased costs and fees but then your behind again...sorry to say its a vicious cycle that never gets broken
PROPERTY OWNERS, the ones who pay the mortgage, responsible for the upkeep of the property, pays the taxes, fees and insurance..........should be able to charge WHAT THEY WANT. The government needs to stay out of the property owner's business!!!

I believe the government sets the rent rates. Then REGARDLESS of what that rent is, the renter pays a max of one-third of their income the landlord, the government pays the rest.
And of course remember how DV claims landlords are deadbeats if they don't pay the taxes but if the government doesn't pay the landlord enough with which to cover the cost of the taxes and everything else a homeowner has in expenses.
So how does a landlord pay the taxes if the government does not pay enough to the landlord with which to pay taxes and expenses? (of course, DV would not understand that)
