Why are they 'sweeping' certain businesses? Are they getting complaints from neighbors?

What exactly constitutes being an 'asset to the community'?

And if there is 'questionable activity' going on in those businesses....they will just move down the road OR be more discrete.

Where there is demand....there WILL be supply.....yes?

REDLINING....I wonder if they will offer those folks who want to be American entrepreneurs some government jobs? or how
about helping them fill out applications for all those fabulous Schenectady County 'high paying' service jobs...

unfortunately they will be pushed out of the cash business/bartering (worth a hell of a lot more than being on the books)

that's why people say 'fu(k it'

one thing I've learned is that following the rules and being a nice little cog....gets one no where but with more
links in the chain, just paying more taxes/fees for a bunch of leeches......called government workers/politicians/corporate
welfare......

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Fabio Grocery on Albany Street during a surprise code inspection

Was this a code inspection or a raid on establishments?

Why  so many agencies involved?

The final days of prohibition.

The cops need to get their money before legalization.

The push is on for the booty.

I have to agree this is another one of McThug's publicity stunts. Just like his FAILED HOMES Program! Let the Police walk the streets on booths then we will give the cops credit. Sitting in a sports car and behind a desk is not crime fighting it's called milking the taxpayers!

Schenectady does have foot/bike patrols. Unfortunately they cannot have a lot of officers doing foot patrol as it is not practical. What happens when there is a major call on the other side of the city? There is no way cops on foot patrol could get to calls quickly and efficiently. And if you people haven't noticed most of the crime in Schenectady occurs near or in those little for corners stores. You don't hear about crime happening in the businesses downtown.

A) if they did hit the downtown businesses first you'd be complaining that they are chasing good business away. B) those violations wouldn't sound pathetic if they caused a fire or some other situation and someone died. If one of those electrical issues caused a fatal fire you would probably be the first person on here accusing those city officials of not doing there jobs. Why don't you lose the two face comments and let our public servants do their job. Maybe one day you will learn to appreciate them and maybe thank them.

The nayboobs piss and moan when they think nothing is being done to clean up the city and enforce city codes.  Then they piss and moan when something is done to clean up the city and enforce city codes.
Personally, I think it is a sign of mental illness and/or a miserable, pathetic life.  Constant complaining, never satisfied and illusions that they can do everyone else's job better.

I would love to see some of the people on this forum try to be a cop/firefighter/emt for a day or try to be an elected official. Then I could laugh at them when they fail on their first day. People are clueless

Who's talking about sending the entire force to walk the streets? It takes 2 frikin cops to patrol an area on foot a buddy system. Let them go to the high crime areas and beat the streets. The police can form a street walking task force to focus on walking the streets a group of officers 20 to 30 or so.  It can be on a  daily, weekly basis whatever works for the Police Dept. The important thing is that the criminals will know that the police is right on their turf on foot and not in a car crusing around. This will deter criminals to move out of the neighboorhood and set up shop in another city. The corner store owners are making a living with their small business they are not the criminals. If you chop the head off the corner store owners the criminals will still roam the streets it doesn't solve the crime problem. DOWNTOWN HAS THE BIGGEST CRIME HAPPENING RAPING THE TAXPAYERS TO GIVE TO THE RICH! GO BACK UNDER YOUR ROCK!

Wowwww. I love your smart comments. I WILL REPEAT: Schenectady does have a foot/bike patrol detail. I listen to them on the scanner every day and see them downtown everyday. If you think they need more why don't you try contacting them. Police departments actually like to hear from the citizens. You complaining on here isn't going to change anything.

Glad you think the police department's don't do anything Bet your opinion would change real fast if it was your house that was broken into, or your family that got shot, or someone rear-ended you and took off. The next time you need a cop, don't call and waste their time. They can go help someone who actually wants their help.

This clearly presents itself as a publicity ploy!!!
First....if the cops are involved....one would assume they suspect criminal activity....which means they need a warrant.....yes? Did they present one?
Second....if it is just a question of building violations....then ONLY the code enforcers were needed.....yes?

It just appears as overkill to most folks.

And AGAIN..........WHO WAS COMPLAINING??? NEIGHBORS?????
