Report: New York Worst State To Be A Taxpayer
March 19, 2014  //  By: Rusty  //  Andrew Cuomo, Democrats, Economy, New York, News, Taxes  //  No Comment

File this under ‘duh.’  The financial website wallethub.com has ranked all 50 states based on the taxpayer experience.  New York came in dead last.

Via the Times Union:

We (New York) had the second highest gas taxes in the nation, the third highest local income taxes, the seventh highest state sales tax rates and the 11th highest tax on alcohol, according to their survey.

Average annual state and local tax burden totaled $9718, 40 percent above the national average.

Right behind us were California, 37 percent above the U.S. average at $9509 a year, Nebraska, at $9450 36 percent above average, and Connecticut, at $9099 31 percent above.

Take a look at the complete study here…

And yet, New York Democrats accuse Republicans of wanting “people to starve” without a hint of irony that it is tax and spend liberal policies that actually cause people to struggle with their finances.

Aside from the revelation that New York is truly the worst state in the union for taxpayers, WalletHub also picks up on a red state vs. blue state trend.

Via the Washington Post:

That’s according to a new study by WalletHub, a publication of Evolution Finance, which found residents in blue states pay much more than residents of red states. The company used a typical American family making a median income and living in a median home to weigh average relative tax bills.

As demonstrated by the graphic below, red states had significantly lower tax rankings as opposed to blue states.

In addition to being a horrible experience for taxpayers, New York also ranks dead last for freedoms, last for business and business friendliness, is one of the top 5 states people are fleeing, and is among the worst in regards to life issues.

In a related story....Water is wet.

If you want to see what happens when you inject less government and more economic freedoms into a VERY blue state, look up what Scott Walker has done for Wisconsin.

Talk about a total 180....So much so, that they will be issuing refunds to taxpayers because of the amount of surplus they have.

Factcheck?

Politifact
"Nine out of the 10 poorest states are Red states."
Whether you look at per-person, household, or family income, nine out of the ten poorest
states voted Republican in the last four presidential elections.

Old meme is old.

It doesn't work anymore. You seem tired. Are you tired?

The reason for that Box is that the red states don't steal money from the taxpayer like the blue states do. Maybe the red states would rather be poor and have more freedom than be rich and live under government control.

Shadow, you got it assbackwards.  Unplug FoxSnooze and shut off Druggy Rush, and you might
learn some FACTS instead of posting inaccuracies as you did above:

Red States Are Welfare Queens

Take a look at the difference between federal spending on any given state
and the federal taxes received from that state. We measure the difference as a dollar
amount: Federal Spending per Dollar of Federal Taxes. A figure of $1.00 means that
particular state received as much as it paid in to the federal government. Anything
over a dollar means the state received more than it paid; anything less than $1.00
means the state paid more in taxes than it received in services. The higher the figure,
the more a given state is a welfare queen.

YEA SHADOW, YOU AND I AS NEWYORKERS ARE SUBSIDIZING RED STATES!!!
SUCKS HUH!  THEY ARE THE 'TAKERS' WE ARE THE 'GIVERS'.

Of the twenty worst states, 16 are either Republican dominated or conservative states. Let's go through the top twenty.

New Mexico: $2.03
Mississippi: $2.02
Alaska: $1.84
Louisiana: $1.78
West Virginia: $1.76
North Dakota: $1.68
Alabama: $1.66
South Dakota: $1.53
Kentucky: $1.51
Virginia: $1.51
Montana: $1.47
Hawaii: $1.44
Maine: $1.41
Arkansas: $1.41
Oklahoma: $1.36
South Carolina: $1.35
Missouri: $1.32
Maryland: $1.30
Tennessee: $1.27
Idaho: $1.21

Notice the overwhelming presence of northern "rugged individualist" states, like Alaska,
the Dakotas and Montana, along with most of the South?

So how about those LIBERAL FREE SPENDING DEMOCRAT BLUE STATES???
California is 43rd, getting back only $0.78 for every dollar it sends to Washington.
New York is 42nd, and one penny better off, at $0.79 per dollar.
Massachusetts is 40th, receiving $0.82 for every dollar it sends to DC.

How can this be??? How can people like Shadow be so sure that "the red states
don't steal money from the taxpayer like the blue states do".

Just the opposite Shadow... but why do you believe the hype instead of the FACTS???

"Maybe the red states would rather be poor and have more freedom than
be rich and live under government control".

See Shadow, when all you listen to is CONSERVATIVE PROPAGANDA, ALL YOU WILL KNOW
IS CONSERVATIVE PROPAGANDA.
The Red States are the Welfare Queens,
the Blue States pay the Red State's bills.

There's a big difference in population and density of business in the red states as well which means less ability to pay for welfare programs. I'm just watching states like NYS, California, Illinois, Maryland, and many other blue states drown in debt that they can't pay for. Some of the red states are coming back to reality with balanced budgets and an influx of businesses that have fled the blue states due to excessive taxes.

Just think of how much NY Taxes would go DOWN if we didn't have to subsidize Red Welfare Queen
states like Rand Paul's Kentucky?  Or Ron Paul's Texas?
Just think how much NY could prosper and even CUT TAXES if we weren't paying for Red State
s?

Damn Socialist Red States!

How much would red states and blue states taxes go down if they didn't have to pay for all the governments mandates and regulations piled on them. Anytime government gets involved in anything the cost goes sky high. Let's reduce all the waste and fraud in all the government programs and we can all have lower taxes. Anytime anyone mentions cutting anything out of the Federal Budget the Dems go berserk so I guess that will never happen as long as they are in control of Congress.

Really??? I hear the Reps crying every time the Dems try to cut Oil & Gas company subsidizes.
"BOO HOO... THE OIL COMPANIES NEED THE MONEY!!! "

Senate Republicans reject Obama call to end 'big oil' tax breaks
CNN
"With record profits and rising production, I'm not worried about the big oil companies...
I think it's time they got by without more help from taxpayers, who are having a tough
enough time paying their bills and filling up their tanks."

I happen to be opposed to the government using taxpayer money to subsidize any company that's competing in the free market, that includes oil and green energy. I was opposed to TARP, the bailout, and bailing out the banks and GM. It's not governments place to pick winners and losers when it comes to business.

You are entitled to your opinions, but the FACTS remain,
The Red States are the Welfare Queens,
the Blue States pay the Red State's bills.

that's why it's not a dem/rep issue.....divided we are conquered and it has NOTHING to do with the political parties...

don't you get it yet?

we can't have a perceived animal farm......

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
