New Princetown judge allegedly fires shots in neighborhood Tuesday, March 18, 2014 By Justin Mason (Contact) Gazette Reporter
PRINCETOWN — Princetown's recently-elected town justice was arrested on reckless endangerment charges after he allegedly discharged a shotgun three times in a residential neighborhood Monday.
William H. Reynolds, 56, was charged with misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment and obstruction of governmental administration and resisting arrest following an investigation by state police and officers with the Department of Environmental Conservation. He was given appearance tickets returnable to town court next week, but the case will need to be switched to another jurisdiction since he's Princetown's lone justice.
Troopers said they responded to Reynolds' neighborhood after receiving a complaint about three gunshots during the evening. Investigators responding to the incident conducted various interviews and were able to determine the source of the shots that were fired.
Troopers said Reynolds was uncooperative during the investigation of the incident and during the arrest itself. An investigation into the incident is continuing.
Reynolds was elected town justice in November, replacing longtime incumbent Michelle Van Woeart, who served the post for more than a decade. Van Woeart and the administration of Supervisor Michael Joyce quarreled frequently before she left office.
