Someone brought this to my attention: "We have so mismanaged it, we have botched it so badly, we're gonna make you pay for it, because you elected us. It's ultimately your fault. You're the stupid idiots that elected us. We don't know what we're doing. We have no idea how to actually govern. All we can do is spend your money, and we need more of it." (interruption) People can't afford their property tax being doubled? That's not a problem. They're gonna send out the bill.
If you don't pay your property tax, they reclaim your home and they own the home and then they'll resell it and they'll get it out of you that way. That's the way it'll work. (interruption) What do you mean they can't afford it? When's the last time a Democrat ever factored in whether or not a taxpayer can afford a tax increase? Name for me the last time a Democrat ever thought about that.
That's from the Rush Limbaugh program. He's speaking about Chicago, and Rahm Emanuel specifically, but it is so very appropriate for Schenectady. I'd like to print out the transcript and send it to McCheese and Co. Here's more: So if you own a home or any piece of property, and your property tax is gonna double, and you can't pay it, what is gonna happen to you? Your property is going to eventually be taken from you. They'll foreclose on you. And who do you think's gonna take ownership? Rahm Emanuel. And if he can't get money out of you from you paying your property tax times two, then they'll foreclose on your home. They'll take it from you and they'll sell your house, and whatever they get for it will make up for whatever you were supposed to pay but couldn't. How else are they gonna do it? See, now, I know that the normal reaction is, "Okay, they're gonna double property taxes. There's already a stagnant economy nationally. Illinois is already its own subset of a mess. People do not have this money. http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/da.....e_who_aren_t_working That's exactly it.
I just saw an AP article. Guess who has decided to unload some Chicago real estate? None other than Oprah Winfrey! That's pretty bad, when not even Oprah can afford the taxes. Or maybe she just doesn't like being gouged to pay for incompetence and cronyism. I know the feeling.
Just like NYS....who would want to live in Chicago....ON PURPOSE?????

LOL @ "sperg"!
Really! I would hope that Bumbler leaves NY State as soon as possible. Out of NY State and into one of the Conservative Utopian states, like ( ) Louisiana, or ( ) Mississippi! Drop us all a post when you get settled Bumbler and let us know how nice it is living in a Conservative heaven.
The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness. John Kenneth Galbraith
I know large numbers of either apolitical or liberal younger people who are preparing to get the hell out of this state. It is getting too hard to stay in the middle class for many New Yorkers.

I know two late 20's, early 30's couples who left NY and MA for TX and Louisiana. Both moved for jobs, but came back east for their sanity and lifestyle.
Living in "BubbaLand" is not what you might expect.

I'm quite familiar with "BubbaLand". I know people who left for places such as Georgia, and even Mississippi, and have stayed, not so much for what the places have, but for what they don't have. There are plenty of ignorant and backward people in all places, and there are also plenty of friendly, decent, hardworking people out there. Do you think there aren't provincial people in Rotterdam, Schenectady, Colonie, and even Albany, the capital of the Empire State?
Speaking from experience, New Yorkers welcome people from anywhere... Southerners (for the most part) do not like "Yankees" and are not afraid to let you know...ie. not welcome
JUST BECAUSE SISSY SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO...BUT HE THINKS IT DOES!!!!! JUST BECAUSE MC1 SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO!!!!!
There's a whole country out there, it isn't a choice between Schenectady, N.Y. and "Bubbaland", and I know many, many people who exited this area and are very happy with where they ended up. I also believe that if you move to a new area, and the people don't like you, it is just possible that it could be you, and not them. I don't mean you, personally, jbx. I mean that some, not all, New Yorkers and Southern Californians move into some of these new places, like Austin, TX, for instance, and try to make it just like the place they left because it was so crappy.
