Sen. Rand Paul demolished his competition in the 2014 CPAC presidential preference straw poll, winning 31% of the vote -- nearly three times the total of second-place Sen. Ted Cruz, the AP reports.
Sen. Marco Rubio suffered a huge drop from last year, falling from 23% and second place to 6% and seventh place.
Randy Paul's dad, then-Rep. Ron Paul, won the straw poll twice on a similar libertarian-minded message, though he never managed to get even 1% of America's vote.

Ryan, the House Budget Committee chairman and 2012 Republican vice presidential nominee, is at 15%, with longtime Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who's considering another bid for the White House, at 11%.
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a 2008 GOP presidential candidate, is the only other possible contender tested in the survey who cracked double digits.
