Yeah bumble?  What's up?  You must only listen to the US media propaganda pushing America into a conflict with Russia over a piece of land that the majority of Americans never even heard of(Crimea) until last week.  Now everybody is a water cooler historian on Russia-Ukraine relations.

Yup, I made a topic 2 months ago about the problems in the Ukraine and I even wrote not much is being reported on this here in America, now people act as if this all came out of nowhere. I first heard about it by citizen journalist and then the 1st media reports that I seen came from RT, our media was a month behind on what should of been known was a brewing conflict in that region. Not saying RT doesn't push state propaganda because it does but its funny to see some get pissed when we blast American news as well, I remember Phil Donahue was fired because he didn't back our state propaganda of forcing the war effort.

Bumbler will openly accept any conspiracy source, a deranged blogger or a Russian Govt

Is that what you hear from the MSM Cicero??? Right Wing Media is pushing for war, the rest are
reporting the news.
I haven't heard one legitimate source that is "pushing America" into a 'boots on the ground' conflict
with Russia.

Henry.  You are correct that there was little news about the Ukraine until recently.  And you are
correct that the only place that you did hear about it was from the Russian funded, Russian sponsored,
Russian Propaganda source  RT!
RT isn't the BBC or NBC or even fairly unbalanced FoxSnooze.  RT IS THE RUSSIAN GOVERNMENT!

Obama Signs Order Declaring Ukraine Crisis an ‘Extraordinary Threat’ to National Security

by Noah Rothman | 7:55 am, March 6th, 2014 35

On Thursday morning, President Barack Obama signed an executive order which designated the ongoing crisis in Ukraine prompted by a Russian military invasion of the Crimean Peninsula “an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States.”

The order allows the administration to impose visa restrictions on Russians and Crimeans which are identified as threats to Ukraine’s security or territorial integrity. The order also paves the way for the imposition of sanctions on individuals the government determines are responsible for “undermining democratic processes or institutions in Ukraine.”

On Thursday, the Crimean parliament voted to separate from Ukraine and join Russia as a new territory in the Russian Federation. They mandated that a referendum on either greater autonomy or union with Russia will be put to the public in 10 days. Both the government in Kiev and the European Union declared that this kind of regional referendum would be unconstitutional.

One of the primary rationales the Bush administration used to go to war with Iraq was that
country’s supposed possession of weapons of mass destruction. Secretary of State Colin
Powell told the United Nations Security Council that “the facts and Iraq’s behavior show that
Saddam Hussein and his regime are concealing their efforts to produce more weapons of
mass destruction.” White House Press Secretary said WMDs were “what this war was about
and it is about.” Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz agreed, calling WMDs the “core
reason” for going to war. Bush himself made the case in an October 2002 speech, stating,
“If we know Saddam Hussein has dangerous weapons today — and we do — does it make
any sense for the world to wait to confront him as he grows even stronger and develops
even more dangerous weapons?”

Ukraine crisis is about Great Power oil, gas pipeline rivalry
Resource scarcity, competition to dominate Eurasian energy corridors, are behind Russian militarism and US interference

Russia's armed intervention in the Crimea undoubtedly illustrates President Putin's ruthless determination to get his way in Ukraine. But less attention has been paid to the role of the United States in interfering in Ukrainian politics and civil society. Both powers are motivated by the desire to ensure that a geostrategically pivotal country with respect to control of critical energy pipeline routes remains in their own sphere of influence.

Ukraine’s Black Soil is Golden for the Economy

Ukraine’s ‘‘black soil’’ is rightly famous, a rich soil that is well known for its fertile qualities.

Thirty percent of the world’s black soil is in Ukraine, and 42 million of the country’s 60 million hectares (231,660 square miles) is agricultural land where wheat, barley, rapeseed and sunflowers grow in abundance.

In Soviet times, Ukraine was known as the breadbasket of Europe, the land that fed the world and provided one-fourth of the Soviet Union’s agricultural output.

Today, the country’s agricultural industry represents almost 10 percent of the country’s gross domestic product, but its potential for growth remains vast.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kostyantyn Gryshchenko recently said that the agricultural sector could increase fourfold in the next five years, and investors mark out Ukraine’s agricultural industry as one to watch in the future.

Foreign investment in the agricultural sector hit a high point of $3.2 billion in 2008 and then dipped after the world financial crisis but is picking up again, spurred by rising world food prices.

In 2011, Ukrainian food exports reached $12 billion, an increase of 28.5 percent over 2010, led by sunflower oil, in which Ukraine is the world export leader.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has long been a strong supporter of investment in Ukraine and has invested hundreds of millions of dollars over the course of the last two decades. Most recently, it said it would invest up to $10 million in the Paris-based agricultural company AgroGeneration, which produces cereal and oilseeds at six farms in northwestern Ukraine.

As in many post-Soviet countries, Ukraine’s agriculture sector needs further reforms. The government is pushing through a land law that will allow agricultural land to be sold — although foreigners will still be barred from purchasing land — but it is not expected to come into effect before 2013.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych says: ‘‘A properly functioning market for agricultural land should be in operation in the next few years.’’

The passing of this law will undoubtedlyservetoprovide fresh impetus to the agriculture sector

You provide the date Russia "invaded" Crimea where they already have a military base?  Crimea is voting to join the Russian Federation.  It doesn't sound as if Crimea is hostile toward Russia's "invasion".

US Private Military Contractors in Ukraine?

Stephen Lendman
Activist Post

Reports suggest their presence in Eastern Ukraine. Perhaps Washington deployed Academi (formerly Xe Services/Blackwater USA) forces.

Jeremy Scahill's book titled Blackwater: The Rise of the World's Most Powerful Mercenary Army described the organization. He called it a "shadowy mercenary company (employing) some of the most feared professional killers in the world accustomed to operating without worry of legal consequences (and) largely off the congressional radar."

It has "remarkable power and protection (within) the US war apparatus." It's well funded. It operates extrajudicially. It's unaccountable. It's licensed to kill, terrorize, destroy and destabilize. It takes full advantage wherever its forces are deployed.

Other private military contractors operate the same way. They're mercenaries. They're well-paid. They're well-trained. They're guns for hire.

Washington bears full responsibility for ousting Ukraine's democratically elected government. EU partners share it.
Neo-Nazi putschists were installed. They have no legitimacy whatever. So-called May 25 elections are scheduled. They'll be sham ones when held.

The battle for Ukraine's soul continues. Expect hard times to get much harder. More on this below.
