This information is NOT "nayboob" or "being negative."
Rather these are FACTS, TRUTHS, EVIDENCE that reflects what ha been happening in the city as a result of the focus on downtown at taxpayer expense.
These are FACTS that need to be divulged to all residents/homeowners/taxpayers and must be addressed and dealt with in order for the city to improve and become a place where property values increase, taxes go down, and people actually want to move here and stay here.

Truths obviously make board members speechless
But then again, to the intelligent people on these boards, the facts on this failure are no surprise.

I have seen a few houses sell, that weren't in the program. They were in excellent condition, and listed well below assessed value. I think the buyers paid too much, but if they're happy, I'm happy that the houses are owner occupied. I think that the sales numbers for houses in or out of the program might be pretty much the same, the only difference being, I'm afraid some of the participants in the program may have been offered deals that helped them get in a bad spot financially. MCheese should have spent his time more wisely, as in learning the finer points of snow removal or something. |

True, but that is something that would benefit the people instead of Mary Mary and the rest of his cronies downtown. |

My parent's house has been for sale for several months and there has been Next to zero activity. The house is in great condition-well maintained, many updates (kitchen is from the 90s and a bit dated but still nice), and on a double lot. They are asking well below the asked price and have dropped the price twice already to try to move it. I'm afraid that it will take a long time to sell. They are moving south next month and I will be responsible for looking out after the empty house.
It really is a shame. A beautiful, old Colonial for under $100,000 would be snapped up anywhere else....here it's bound to be just another empty house. |

Yes. It can't be stressed enough, it is the taxes that drives the buyers away. |

Guess by summer there will be a dramatic increase in the number of houses put up for sale in the city (school budget).
Apparently the big increase of houses put up for sale in January results from people opening their tax bill.

McCarthy's H.O.M.E.S progam is a bust, FAILURE, Disaster etc. Schenectady is not getting any better look around the only people who are doing good is the rich downtown cronies to bad the voters are idiots and to uneducated class of people to realize this by now. Numbers don't lie and this data of home sales are fact. You can ask any Realtor and they will all agree Schenectady is a hard market because of high taxes, fees, low quality of life and corrupt Democratic party government running the city is the cause for Schenectady failures. |

Two weeks til the next gala bus tour. Rumor has it that it will be a tour of a total of 412 houses. ROFL (foreclosures)
Wonder if these prospective buyers are asking why there are so many foreclosures in the city. Wonder what the response is that is given by the mayor and his dem team.
I have to laugh, this brochure that the city (taxpayers) put out. You see the chart.
I wonder if the mayor could replicate that chart and within each community shown to have two shades of the colors, and show the amount of the payment that is principal plus interest, and then show what the amount is for taxes.
Then do another brochure one year later that will show these numbers again, and for sure that in Schenectady, the principal and interest will be down (because home values are falling) while the taxes will be going up. And of course, the other communities will be just the opposite thus proving that if you buy a house in Schenectady you lose money but if you buy in the other communities you are getting a return on your investment.
But here is a fact. The fact that a mayor has to take such desperate measure to try to attract people to buying houses in his city proves the city is failing worse by the day.
And for those that would claim that the above is just "being negative," that couldn't be further from the truth. Rather stating this is stating facts. These are realities that cannot be swept under a rug or kept behind closed doors. Only when people have all the facts, the truths (and we "nayboobs" have provided the evidence over and over, while the cheerleaders have not posted any evidence), can the people begin to address these issues and call upon the mayor and his dem team to make changes to turn the city around---such as stop the exemptions for their political cronies, and to stop the wild uncontrolled spending on downtown and start focusing on the neighborhoods where people live.
