Shiny buildings at taxpayer expense? I would rather we kept our money, so we could keep up the beautiful houses going to ruin in our once lovely neighborhoods. If downtown was a good idea, where are all the unsubsidized businesses? Why aren't they getting in on it?
Exactly, while downtown gets a facelift the rest of the city is crumbling before our eyes, it reminds me of the wizard of oz, "don't pay any attention to the man behind the curtain"
"In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, brave, hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, however, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a Patriot."
Bottomline, it is a great proposal. Hopefully, it will be implemented soon. There are a lot of other exciting projects on the horizon for Schenectady - the Renaissance City-County.
Exciting things on the horizon?
Continual falling tax base? Continual falling home values? Continual falling home sales? Continual reductions of ESSENTIAL services? Continual increase in taxes on the financially struggling homeowners? Continual exemption from the rich political cronies paying taxes? Continued increase in people fleeing the city? Continual increase in abandoned houses? Continued increase in blight in the neighborhoods?
Well, tell us DV. Tell us what the taxpayers have gotten as a return for the theft of there money. Why do you refuse to answer?
No pretend you have me blocked
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
It looks nice, but as with everything that is proposed in this city without adequate upkeep it will look just as trashy as the rest of the city by the end of the first year.
Couldn't get through half the lies stated in this proposal!!
Loved it how they stated that businesses are leaving lower State. In reality, Metroplex MOVED AAA, YMCA, Transfinders, Adecco and other businesses from locations on lower State and withinSchenectady to get them into the tax-exempt Center City.
Then the lie that taxes increased after GE left in the 70's.... what a BLATANT LIE!! Taxes went through the roof within the past decade under the implosion of the DEM leadership...
The writers took loads of crap and generously sprinkled it throughout the document.
in many areas around the county.....buildings are being saved to preserve history....what is with that building on the corner of State and BWay..
it looks like hell....cheapens the city??....is that a restaurant ??/...culture is great....but blend in with the rest of the city....
stands out like a sore thumb....
You mean the one that looks like Bob's Burgers

That new Mexican Radio looks great. It really brightens up that corner, which became run down and derelict during the Farley-Jurzynski fiasco years.

but what YOU fail to acknowledge is that MOST of the buildings of the rep administrations paid taxes to the city.
DV, are you man enough to tell us about the looks of the neighborhoods throughout the city under the two dem mayors and their dem teams.
Are you to much of a chicken sh*t to answer that???????????? Do you think that all the decrepit occupied houses look nice? How about all the abandoned houses, especially when the dems made the poor homeowners pay the taxes of the millionaires downtown and because the poor homeowners were financially unable to pay downtown's taxes, the mayor seized their homes. Tell us about that DV, can you"??? Are you man enough to address the TRUTHs that financially struggling homeowers cannot afford to pay the taxes AND pay for repairs to their own homes????? Why do you refuse to address the truths?????
CHICKENSH*T adult aged boy who can't live like a normal adult man and can't engage in intelligent conversation and cannot produce one teeny weeny shred of evidence of anything he says. It's been several years now since you stated that county taxes were lower than in the 1970's and you STILL have not produced one teeny weeny shred of evidence to support your statement!!!!!
