Meteor sightings in Upstate New York? Some are convinced they heard and saw meteors near Lake Ontario Did you hear a loud boom or see a possible meteor shoot through the sky Sunday in Upstate New York? Catie O'Toole | cotoole@syracuse.com By Catie O'Toole | cotoole@syracuse.com on January 12, 2014 at 8:56 PM, updated January 12, 2014 at 8:57 PM Oswego, NY -- Did you see a meteor shoot across the sky Sunday afternoon? Did you hear a loud boom around the same time? Storm Trackers Team NY posed the question to its Facebook followers today. "Possible Meteor Sighting? "We are receiving reports that people may have seen a meteor shooting across the sky late this afternoon. Many reports also of a loud boom noise. I heard it myself. It sounded like thunder! Did you see or hear anything?" More than 40 people so far have responded. Many said they, too, had heard "a loud boom" around 3:30 or 4 p.m. Some thought it was thunder, while others said the noise was so loud it scared them. http://www.syracuse.com/news/i.....d_and_saw_meteo.html

A very big fireball just lit-up the eastern seaboard at 9:14pm est. It was heading south from the Albany, NY area.
Two nights in a row, is that unusual? |
