Is the Kmart in Rotterdam Square Mall supposed to close also? There are some things I like to go there for. But do you think of the mall, there are many vacancies, they need to get more store in there.

Well leave Schenectady to go do our shopping.

So I had a chat with the owner of Jewels this morning, and contrary to the rumors reported on this board, they are planning on staying at the mall for another year. So the rumor that their lease was not going to be renewed was in fact a figment of someone's imagination. He said they plan on operating both locations for the next year. He's waiting to see how things go with the new mall ownership before making a decision. He's very optimistic btw. As to the location on Altamont Ave. he said business there is slow. He said he's getting visitors, but sales are slow.

Also, the Sbarro's at the mall closed unexpectedly a couple of weeks ago. As it turns out that was due to the parent company going into bankruptcy. The location at the mall is being operated by someone as a deli and pizza joint.

I have discovered that the best way to find out what's happening is to just ask the owners of the business' instead of believing the rumors posted on the internet. I discovered this when I asked the manager of 99 Restaurant if they were also leaving as reported here, to which the reply was no.

I'll say this yet again, don't believe everything you hear on the internet.

do you really think a business would say 'yes'

....ALL businesses are up for sale for the right price and can close on a dime, cutting losses.....

rumor of closures- probably
strong foundation to bank on the 'not going any where'- not so sure

You missed the point. It was posted here as fact. It wasn't. Frankly, 90% of what's posted here is bullshit.

I would have said closer to 99% - but ya, you're absolutely right.

And I'm not saying that's even a bad thing. But to come here, or for that matter anywhere on the Interwebs, and think that what you're getting is truth is stupid. And that's my point. And frankly I have more faith in a face to face conversation with someone than I do reading something online and basing an opinion on what some anonymous person is posting. Heck, just take a look at some of the nonsense I post.

Did you ask him if the old landlord(macerich)renewed the lease or did he have to wait for the new ownership(Kohan)to renew?  I think the person that claimed the mall wasn't  renewing leases was shortly before Macerich sold.  I don't think they said leases were not GOING to be renewed, but they were not being renewed(at that time).

Good point, I'll ask when I'm there tomorrow. I'm not gonna dig for the OP, but it seems to me it was implied that they were not going to be renewed. I will stick by my claim though that 90% of the stuff posted here as fact is in fact bullshit.

Once again senders I beg to differ. Stuff gets posted here all the time as fact, when in reality it's rumor or innuendo. That's really my point here.

And to be clear I think that your posts and information you post is most always dead on. The fact that some here can't figure you out, just shows how narrow minded they are. When YOU post something, irregardless of how fragmented or weird it may seem to others, I understand perfectly. Perhaps we're on some sort of psychic connection. I have no idea. My problem once again, is not the questioning, but hearing something "at the donut shop" and passing it on here as factual.

That being said, I now need to find my stash of "Molly" and Seconal. This has become exhausting.
