In return for city residents paying almost the highest taxes around, the city is not taking care of Central Park this year?   No skating?

We haven't been through there in quite some time, not in the winter particularly, but the bitter cold should provide for excellent conditions to clear off the lake.  Someone told us there is no skating this year.

BS, as was his usual tactic, pulled some imaginary high cost figure out of his posterior, in order to justify eliminating skating in the park. He did at one point have a crew of jail inmates come out and clear off a very small area of ice, he said it was in response to the citizens' requests, but I happen to know it was because a couple of young men who wanted to use the lake for hockey practice had stomped out the message, "STRATTON SUCKS" in the snow, and he was too lazy to go shovel it off himself.
It's a shame, it has been great conditions for skating, and such a beautiful setting, but skating is another thing that has been 'let go'. I think that the money given to Proctor's should instead be used for skating, because that drew visitors to the city as well. I've had people ask me about it, and I have to tell them that the city hasn't bothered with it for years.
BTW, speaking of vacant houses (on another thread), on beautiful Wright Avenue, the street that leads up to the park gate, two house right across from each other, in the middle of the street, are sitting empty. One is boarded up. A beautiful street like that.

no skating???...well everyone knows why....no heat for them.....wimps....they wouldn't dare go out in the cold....no sir.

..they just take a warm ride to the restaurants downtown...where it's warm and cozy.

no more fun in Central Park...in the Casino....no hot chocolate...nothing to look forward to..

just the eating and drinking that you can do downtown....and if lucky ...catch a second rate movie at Bow tie...

or one that you can't afford at the Proctor's

sad day this winter.....what to do....get rid of that lame government....

Skating? In the scope of Schenectady...........Skating should be the lowest priority!!

And it would just attract the bottom feeders...........and the city knows that...since they created it!
