This is a weird story, which I did not see on the evening news at all. I've been hearing helicopters this evening, I wonder if that is possibly related?

SCHENECTADY -- Police charged at least one man with assault in connection with a stabbing just before 10 a.m. Thursday inside the Union Inn, authorities say.http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Man-arrested-after-Schenectady-bar-stabbing-5127613.php

It seems there is an apartment upstairs, and that's where the stabbing occurred. Still pretty weird that it would happen at 10am.

SCHENECTADY — A city man beat another man with a club just before 10 a.m. Thursday at the Union Inn, police said.

After getting a call for a stabbing at the 517 Union St. bar, cops found the victim outside on nearby Clinton Street, bleeding from his forearms and hands, police said. The unidentified victim, however, was not stabbed, but had been struck repeatedly with a "billy club type item," police said. The 26-year-old victim was treated at Ellis Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

At least one officer drew his gun as members of the department's tactical unit entered a side door leading to an apartment above the inn. Around 10:30 a.m., they came out with two men, including one without a shirt. The pair were handcuffed and placed into the back of separate police cars and taken to police headquarters for questioning.

One of the men, Corey Daniels, 27, was charged with felony assault and misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon, obstruction of governmental administration and harassment. Daniels will be arraigned Friday in Schenectady City Court. Whether anyone else will be charged in the alleged assault was not http://www.timesunion.com/loca.....27613.phpimmediately clear.

Man charged in tavern stabbing
BY STEVEN COOK AND KATHLEEN MOORE Gazette Reporters
pute for the past year with developer Christopher Maddalone over the cause of massive flooding that has damaged the inn’s basement.
Fordham charged that Maddalone’s neighboring development caused stormwater to be diverted into the bar’s basement.
Last month, the inn filed suit against Maddalone, his company and the development. The authority also told Fordham in a written report that she could not escape punishment just because the perpetrator was her son. If violence continued, the authority said, she could face sanctions.
Meanwhile, the Union Inn has been in a dis-One man was stabbed Thursday morning inside a Schenectady bar and at least one man was taken into custody, officials said.
The incident happened just before 10 a.m. at the Union Inn, 517 Union St. The victim was found by police on nearby Clinton Street with injuries described as not life-threatening.
The stabbing happened inside the bar, not in the apartments above, police said. The bar was closed at the time.
“Officers made entry, interviewed a number of individuals,” city police spokesman Lt. Mark McCracken said.
McCracken did not say why the group may have been inside the bar. Several people were taken to the station to be interviewed, he said.
The stabbing victim was not identified.
One man taken into custody was identified later Thursday as Cory Daniel, son of the owner of the bar, according to Daniel’s attorney, James Walsh. Daniel lives above the bar and was sleeping Thursday morning, Walsh said. He was charged with second-degree assault, a felony; criminal possession of a weapon and obstructing governmental administration, misdemeanors ; and harassment, a violation.
Walsh said he expected Daniel to be held overnight and arraigned this morning. “We’ll see where it’s going once they have charges, but we are going to deny these allegations and we’ll put forth a zealous defense,” Walsh said.
The bar has been threatened in the past year on two different fronts: rainwater gushing into its basement and accusations of violence that threatened the bar’s liquor license. The license review followed accusations that a son of bar owner Joyce Fordham twice chased a customer out of the bar and beat him. The report did not identify the son.
The investigation by the state Liquor Authority came at the request of the city. The bar did not lose its liquor license but the authority warned the bar needed better security

10 in the morning? Reminds me of the KFC stabbing. But of course no violent crime Downtown as repeatedly stated by Mayor McCheese and his puppets.
Tremendous response by the SPD who had the block closed and quickly made an arrest.

nothing bad happens in Downtown

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Ick. Running around bleeding over by Clinton Street? At 10 a.m?
Good thing they put that crappola apartment building on that corner, on a rubbish-strewn lot. It really brought the whole area up to renaissance standards.

Up in to the 70 s a cop could go into a bar at lunch time or any time for that matter, in full uniform- have a couple of beers and go back to work.

Time's Union article said he was also arrested for headbutting a 58 year old man at Delorey's on Dec. 11- so in less than a year, he's allegedly been in at least 4 fights. This guy needs help, seems like a danger to society. The Union Inn itself is a terrible place, caters to the drug dealers, and biker gangs, liquor authority would be doing everyone in Schenectady a favor to pull it's liquor license.
