Quoted from benny salami
Schenectady County also has one of the highest teenage pregnancy rates in the NATION. Up with other DEM hot beds like Detroit and Camden, NJ. The problem is not the gap, it's the lack of any
entry level jobs/internship programs in this County. Back in the day you could take industrial arts in high school and have a good paying job at GE or ALCO. Today? Good luck getting anything. For too many young girls the only future is at DSS. Nobody wants to talk about this issue.

I lived in Cochise County Arizona for several years. An extremely conservative community. I personally knew the individual in charge of the department responsible for teenage pregnancy prevention and advocacy. Cochise County was amongst the tops in the nation in per capita teen pregnancy.

Stick that in your pipe!

Like that has anything to do with anything? Ooh, I knew somebody who had a job!
Benny, you are very observant as to what is happening right here in real life. Unlike "Dave", I see some of these young women for myself, and I can see where they make a misstep because it is the path of least resistance in a life where the outlook is not so rosy. Then, even when they try to extricate themselves, going to school or into job training, it is really too hard, because when the available jobs are eight dollars an hour, part time, they just can't do it.
If that sounds contradictory to what I said on another thread, it is not, because there are are a lot of people in the area who already HAVE employment, and these people have CARS and spend money, there just isn't the room at the bottom anymore.
