Hey, political junkies, don't look now, but Ed Kosiur is making a political comeback. He started in politics back in 2002 when appointed to fill a Schenectady City Council vacancy.
Now, Chris "Capo" Gardner is dispatching Kosiur to replace Denise Brucker, who'll resign from the council in January because she's moved to Niskayuna. Gardner is county attorney and boss of the potent local Democratic machine.
Gardner is concerned about having loose cannons on the council, so he's bringing in extreme party loyalist Kosiur to steady the ship. Steady Eddy's loyalty traces back to 2007. Back then, Gardner created a county position of special assistant commissioner in charge of sprouts, or was it youths?
Gardner handpicked Kosiur as a candidate Gardner was certain could defeat Republican George Amedore in a key Assembly race. Kosiur bombed, but he was rewarded for valor under fire. Gardner gave him the special assistant commissioner patronage plum worth $85,309.
Kosiur isn't overworked at his county position, but he keeps busy spreading the Democrat gospel. He's a city school board member, chairman on the Democrat-controlled Municipal Housing Authority and president of the Woodlawn Neighborhood Association.
Vince Riggi, the council's only non-Democrat, says Kosiur's call from the bullpen is to help deliver majority council support for Democrat Mayor Gary McCarthy. "Kosiur will always toe the party line because he's clearly bought and paid for by Democrat bosses," Riggi said.. http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Johnson-was-ahead-of-her-time-as-mayor-5069932.php

I didn't consent to these goings-on, and nobody got to vote for that seat on the city council, that's the problem. One of the brats who has been desperately trying to keep my representative, Vince Riggi, from finding out what the heck is going on with our money, woke up and realized she wasn't personally benefitting from her noxious hijinks, but she still held on to that place, to keep it warm. There has to be some reason.
I don't know what the next step is. We have it now, in black-and-white, the expose of the Downtown Home for the Otherwise Unemployable, formerly known as Proctor's Theater. Incredibly, this is not inspiring the outrage that it should. When people are doing their Christmas shopping, not in downtown, they should remember that a part of your income that you could have used to buy gifts for your family, or perhaps to make that extra donation to a favorite charity, has instead been donated for you, on a very convoluted path, into the pocket of someone who is living way, way better than you do, and not necessarily even in this city. Those lovely ladies, the volunteers, they got directly shaken down for a donation to that cause, did they not?
So now we are seeing, what we suspected for some time, the branching out into other areas for the purpose of obtaining grants and loans and income, was the equivalent of paying a credit card with a credit card, only it isn't their card. When you have a popular venue that gets public support, and it is still hemorrhaging money, that is the time that the staff has to tighten their belts. That did not happen. Much the opposite. This is outrageous.
The examples we've talked about on here, Camden, Scranton, Detroit, Stockton, I think one of the things we need to bring out is that there is plentyof talk after the fact of just what went wrong, but here in Schenectady, we are in the same situation, but people just do not want to believe that their elected officials could be doing something wrong, whether by design or stupidity. It does not help that we have a complacent media, and complicit upper levels of government, but it starts right here, with people who support these goings-on because "downtown looks good". Proctor's isn't our crownjewel, Proctor's used to be our treasure, it has been taken over, and it has cancer. Wake up!

there are not enough working, educated, informed folks who live in the Schenectady. The majority are on some type of social services. They could give a crap less how much tax payers money is being spent on downtown, or how much the cops are paid, or how high the taxes are. Cause they are all getting a piece of the taxpayers pie too!!
