Schdy has suffered the same fate as all other "mill towns" in the area.  Gloversville & Johnstown
used to make gloves, Amsterdam used to make carpets, Troy, the 'collar city', and Utica's textile
mills are gone.

You can either look backwards at what 'used to be' or look forwards to what 'might be'.

Globalization has cause this situation America is facing.

All industry has been outsourced to third world countries to level the 'global' playing field.

This was created for globalization.

That planning was one of the things that helped kill downtown. Downtown was a neighborhood, it supported a supermarket, etc. They wiped out the neighborhood and the school, fewer businesses were able to stay.

We should have listened to Eliot Spitzer when he wanted to pass a crack tax.

Good one. You don't have to go that far back. Until the late 70's we have department stores, low taxes and great City services. Remember curb to curb garbage service? We
also had a two party system. Now we also have 2 parties the DEM machine and Vince Riggi. Love the "every NE City BS". Every other city does not have Metrograft, a terrorist
as CSEA President, two month principals and rejects a accomplished college administrator with 2 PHD's for Mayor. The City is headed for bankruptcy and a State Control Board.

Still Lookin' Backwards.  Nostalgia is fun, but it doesn't put any bread on the table.

Global foundries was just one more 'forward' idea for the Saratoga Clifton Park area.
GE is as greedy as they get, but as long as they pay taxes and provide jobs in the area,
they should be the focus of our efforts.
Nano tech in our schools is a good way to make sure similar projects move here and once
here, they stay here.
