America is absolutely not a "christian nation".  Both by act of congress and by our Constitution.

~ If a Christian nation had been the intent of the founders, they would have put that in the
Constitution, front and center. Yet the text of the Constitution contains no references to God,
Jesus Christ, or Christianity. That document does not state that our country is an officially
Christian nation.

~ The First Amendment bars all laws “respecting an establishment of religion” and protects
“the free exercise thereof.” Nothing here indicates that the latter provision applies only to
Christian faiths.

~ The Treaty of Tripoli was submitted to the Senate by President John Adams, receiving
ratification unanimously from the U.S. Senate on June 7, 1797, and signed by Adams,
taking effect as the law of the land on June 10, 1797:
Quoted Text
"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense,
founded on the Christian religion,
—as it has in itself no character of enmity against
the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen [Muslims],—and as the said States never
entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan [Mohammedan] nation,
it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever
produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries".

I agree.  And every Christian should run fast and long from the modern state doctrine that is counter to their religious beliefs.  It's that simple.

You wanna really send a message, don't look at Christmas as a signal to consume.  Put away the credit cards and starve the state of millions if not billions in tax revenue, and the banks in interest. Really show them how Christian you are.

I would strongly disagree with the contention that America was not founded as a Christian nation that would tolerate all religious expression.  Those who believe that America was NOT founded as a Christian nation are just proving that 50+ years of secular humanist extreme radical leftism has succeeded in brainwashing a vast chink of the American population.

Quoted Text
One of the many attacks on our country from the Religious Right is the claim
that our country is a Christian Nation...not just that the majority of people are Christians,
but that the country itself was founded by Christians, for Christians. However, a little
research into American history will show that this statement is a lie. Those people who
spread this lie are known as Christian Revisionists. They are attempting to rewrite
history, in much the same way as holocaust deniers are. The men responsible for
building the foundation of the United States were men of The Enlightenment, not
men of Christianity. They were Deists who did not believe the bible was true. They
were Freethinkers who relied on their reason, not their faith.
If the U.S. was founded on the Christian religion, the Constitution would clearly say
so--but it does not. Nowhere does the Constitution say: "The United States is a
Christian Nation", or anything even close to that. In fact, the words "Jesus Christ,
Christianity, Bible, Creator, Divine, and God" are never mentioned in the Constitution
-- not even once.

My contention is that Christianity and nationalism are unrelated as far as Jesus was concerned.  Christians should concern themselves with building a stronger church in opposition to the state, instead of using the state as a vehicle for their religion.  By doing so, they allowed the secular humanist to dilute and even pervert Christianity.

REAL Christians, believe that their rights come from God. Political Christians, or any other religion for that matter, have replaced it with an unholy alliance with GOV ALMIGHTY.

America is NOT a christian nation. If it were, the ten commandments would still be displayed EVERYWHERE. Gay marriage wouldn't even be a subject matter for discussion, Abortions would be illegal. Churches would not be pledging allegiance to the flag during church services. ALL churches would be the #1 organizations helping the poor....not the taxpayers via GOV ALMIGHTY. Veterans day (which is a government created holiday) would not be celebrated during a church service. Churches would not have 'gambling' available in their buildings. Prayer would still be allowed in schools. Remarriages would not be preformed or recognized in churches. Pastors would not be divorced and remarried or living with their significant other, nor giving 'christian counciling' on how to have a 'blended family'.

Social civilization has declined and the church is clearly not blameless for the decline.

Separation of church and state??? HARDLY! Today's church IS the state.

There are those Christians who would impose their religious beliefs on the rest of the country...
Luckily, we have the US Constitution to protect our rights to, and from religion.

Only the statist can impose their religious beliefs using the force of law.  The Christian needs to recognize that and seperate themselves from it.  With the increase in Home Schooling, I think people are finally beginning to understand that.

America has christians living in it just like Israel has Jewish people living in it and just like Iran has Muslims living in it....

the foundation is FREEDOM....which has been whitewashed by one religion or another....just like the church of England....

Not to worry........religions have sold their soul to GOV ALMIGHTY decades ago. Just look around...it's quite obvious!

any REAL CHRISTIAN (the ones that are left) would be appalled to hear that america was called a Christian nation.
it is anything but!

ANY nation that thinks their nation is a sovereign nation made by ANY deity falls short of what a god IS....

that's how personal religion is....

Question for the so-called Libertarian:
How can one support free education and health care AND individual control of personal decisions such as education and health care SIMULTANEOUSLY?    The state is not going to hand out free education and health care without strings attached.  And if you don't want strings attached the state is not going to pay for it.

Free health care and education should be "offered."

You would have the choice to not participate.

Providing free health care would not require losing your choices.

All treatment options would be decided by you, and your physicians.

Education should be available to anyone who wants it.

Not forced on them. Everyone should be allowed to choose as much, or as little, education as they want.

A single website online could provide high school and most college courses for free easily.

Canada has single payer and you can still choose your doctors and treatments yourself.

These are very few socialist issues that I would support.

Obviously you can't have an absolute Libertarian society.

I never claimed to be anything other than a limited-socialist libertarian.

You still need roads and water supplies.

I just feel that education and health care in the US should not be 100% profit driven.

I would not be against paying taxes to provide these basic services to everyone in the country.

I am against Obamacare. If Obama had simply insured those who were uninsured, I would have accepted it gladly.

I don't think Americans, or anyone should roll up a quarter of a million dollars in debt to learn a skill,  or profession.

The entire education system is a billion layers of redundancy.

Most education could be provided online, and students could learn at their own pace and desire to get it over with.

You finish the third grade curriculum in 3 weeks, simply move on to the next level.

This system would allow students to learn at a much faster rate then the generic pace set by the entire local groups.

Today's kids would complete a high school education in 5 or 6 years.

Obviously there will be things that can't be done online, like learning to use a scalpel, a microscope, or any other trade tools.

But there are existing schools that could be utilized for non-electronic instruction only.

The resulting savings would be astronomical.

Not to mention raising the overall intelligence of the country.

As far as health care, it has been my experience that insurance companies are designed to profit off of human sickness and disease; thereby becoming the single biggest medical expense in the entire process. They dictate treatments and conditions exactly as the corporate stockholder demand. I don't see much difference between them and Obamacare.

Single payer. Doctors and patients decide on treatments and services as needed.

Let the insurance company employees find productive jobs, to replace their jobs of denial, control and profiteering off of human suffering.

Medical insurance fraud adds billions to the overall costs of health care each year.

The more complicated the system, the more people will find ways to use it for personal gain.

Certainly not free "education"....Government controlled education leads to government controlled curriculums, which leads to government shaping impressionable minds, and ultimately leads to how people will view the world around them.  Giving a centralized authority to determine what goes into children's minds destroys individuality.  If the majority of people had any ability to critically think and assess the world around them, they would quickly realize that the country they live in is far different than the country the text books tell them they live in.  The best example is how everybody waves the flag and says we are the freest nation on earth, and totally disregard the fact we have more people locked up in jails(mostly for non violent crimes) than any other nation in the world. When I hear a mindless drone regurgitate the freedom line, I immediately think about their 13 years of indoctrination.  Because anybody that has a half of lobe in their head working, can see that the incarceration rate in America is totally contradictory to the claim of a "free country".

The only thing free about America is when somebody empowers the government to take what one person earned, and give it to another person for FREE.

I agree with your statement on government controlled/mandated education completely.

Anyone should be allowed to pick and choose whatever part of education they wish to learn.

Providing a place for those who can't afford extended education(college) is a hundred times less costly and take much less from everyone else to give to others. It would be a massive tax cut for all Americans.

As far as those who would lose jobs, the jobs were government mafia created and systematically sustained jobs to begin with.

The entire education system is massively layered compartmental redundancy, controlled and mandated by the government.

It would seem that a true libertarian would not want "free" anything from the government and absolutely no government regulation of anything.

The founding fathers supported limited government.

Using the collective taxes to provide health care and education to all would not be receipt of something for free, genius.

The taxpayers provide the money. The government does not "give" anything to anyone.

The government doesn't own anything to "give" away.

Taxpayers own everything the government has.

The government just tries to make you feel that everything belongs to them.

The founding fathers would be against over half of the things the current government has decided that they will provide for us, using the force of the law to do it.

"Taxes should be voluntary" and efficiently spent. You want a collective military, pay military tax. You want collective police protection(lol) pay police tax. The size and capabilities of the military and the police should be adjusted to what the taxpayers choose to provide funding for. then we would see how many would choose to support military domination of the world, or the hunting and incarcerating of Americans for fun and profit.

I truly believe the founding fathers meant for the role of government to be limited to what the taxpayers choose for their representatives.

Currently the government chooses how big they are and what the taxpayers needs are.

They decide to keep growing the power of the government over the taxpayers.

Small government supported by voluntary taxation.

Taxing people under threat of prison is grounds for being shot in the back by the ghosts of the founding fathers.

Supporting absolutely no government is Anarchism, genius. So stop acting more retarded than usual.

You don't get to choose what a true libertarian believes.

Each individual does. A foreign concept to a Liberal Socialist Democrat.

I was talking more about the Christian leaders.  The James Dobbson's, Billy Graham's, and Pat Robertson's.  Those Christian leaders that worked arm in arm with political leaders and preached the Bible in political terms. They led their flock to the government, and convinced them that their involvement in politics was somehow Jesus' teaching.  I'm no theologian, but in my understanding of Jesus' time on earth, he spent much of his time defying the rulers and leading his followers away from the Kings.  His claim that He(God) was the King of the Jews, is what lead to his death. It seems as if these Christian leaders are teaching the exact opposite of what Jesus taught.  Jesus was more of an Anarchist, I don't think he was a statist.

Jesus was killed for not denouncing his wacky ideas of spiritual beliefs guiding his life, instead of the government inflicted beliefs that were mandatory.

I don't think Jesus was against an ordered society, but not one inflicted with the use of force.

I have no problem with people of any religion being politicians.

As long as they act in accordance of the wishes of the citizens.
