Of the 8 NY cities on the list, Schenectady is #6. and, Chicago (#82) is only slightly more dangerous than Schenectady, while Newburgh, NY is #12, far more dangerous than Chicago.

The nice thing is that only 15 out of the top twenty are in the Blue States. Eight out of the top ten are in Blue States and each area is "BLUE" and votes democrap!

Newburgh is awful but the surround community is very nice. I haven't been to the other cities on the list but I guess it depends how boundaries are defined.
That's true of most of the hellholes, isn't it? I've heard that about St. Louis, that you go outside the city and it is suddenly nice, and I've been in the areas surrounding Newburgh, or some of them, and yes, they are nice. Up here where I live, people think it is Niskayuna but it isn't, this area is deteriorating too, just slower than other parts of the city. That should wake people up to the idea that it doesn't have to be like it is, you have a toxic dumpsite and then you move away a few steps and you have relative affluence. Plenty of money, high taxes, the money is not going where it is supposed to go.
I have noticed the lowlifes thinking that if they move to the burbs and find a dumpy house there to rent, that their life will be like Leave It To Beaver. But they bring their parasite, lazy, pajama wearing ways and their lowlife kids and pretty soon- before you know it- the entire burb is a lowlife peasant ghetto. This is the plight of Rottendam, and now Nisk.

I have seen a lot of what you describe, GB. People think that Niskayuna is the magic ticket to the good life or something. Some of those apartment complexes built in the 70's or so are now getting pretty scuzzy, over on Providence. There are scuzzy people who have lived around here for generations, of course, but the difference is, I think, that the local lowlifes know damn well that it is their own behavior making them miserable, so they kind of keep to themselves and try not to draw too much attention. Some of the transplants, your kids aren't doing well in school, but you are out gallivanting with the kids in the car at ten, eleven, twelve o'clock at night, you don't like your dirty "nabe", but it is you and your neighbors throwing garbage on the ground, you and your friends keeping abused dogs that bite people, your friends hosting parties that people bring guns to, etc. What do you expect? I think the key is, people get taught irresponsibility, they have no clue as to why their lives are the way they are, they see that other, more 'successful' people have things they don't have, so they believe that if they get enough of those material things, all will be well.
There really is no easy solution when this happens. You can say that even Detroit has nice suburbs. Sometimes the problem may be that the people who live in the suburbs just work in the city. They are essentially robbing it and moving on. There may be some racism in it, too. New York City eventually reversed the trend, but it was that people actually wanted to live in a city and not be stuck in traffic commuting from the suburbs. Small cities in upstate don't have a commuting problem, so the decay will only get worse in Schenectady, Albany, Buffalo and so on.
Urban decay to be replaced with farmland in Detroit By Perry ChiaramontePublished November 24, 2013
Bankrupt and hemorrhaging population, the city of Detroit is banking on greener pastures to lead its rebirth.
A private company is snapping up 150 acres on the Motor City's East End -- property where more than 1,000 homes once formed a gritty neighborhood -- and turning it into what is being billed as the world's largest urban farm. Hantz Woodlands plans to start by planting trees, but hopes to raise crops and even livestock in the future, right in the midst of the once-proud city.
“We are interested with moving into different types of agriculture,” Mike Score, president of Hantz, told FoxNews.com.
“Your eyes would have a hard time absorbing the blight.”
Hantz needed approval from Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder to buy up the 1,500 parcels for approximately $450,000, or $300 per parcel. Many of the parcels held dilapidated and abandoned homes and buildings and were condemned by the city. Others were rubble-strewn or weed-choked lots. The company intends to spend $3 million to clean out the areas. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/11/24/urban-decay-to-be-replaced-with-farmland-in-detroit/

The thing about the racism, white people did leave some cities because of some black people, in part, but that isn't racism, imo, because black people left because of them, too. I had a lot of friends growing up, who came from Hamilton Hill or MP, who are long gone and aren't looking back. The black middle class left inner Detroit. I know suburbanites who are black themselves, who are more afraid of Hamilton Hill than I am. This is a cultural or socioeconomic issue, or whatever you want to call it, maybe it's a class issue, but I wouldn't call it a race issue. As far as I can tell, most black people do not like crime either. I think where the racism might be a factor, is when elected officials 'write off' the part of a city where the lowest income people live, which tends to be the black people, and that area gets ignored as it goes downhill, because they think that "those people' don't deserve any better. There was an article in the paper a little while ago, about some people trying to improve Albany Street. It is filthy, rotted buildings, garbage, dead bodies, you name it. Then you go just blocks away, it is all clean, perfectly good buildings are torn down while burned out hulks sit for years elsewhere, hundreds of thousands spent where nobody lives. That to me is racism. Oops. I get too wound up about these things sometimes. I'll get off my soapbox now.
people are too accepting of value placed on them by systems....
WIC FOOD STAMPS HEAP
etc etc are all ways to make a cast system or whatever you want to call it...just like the national healthcare will offer subsidies based on income....
the assistance is only because the only way to get food/shelter/clothing/clean water/heat etc through the fiat system that has MEGA controls is to take the value given by the system...
no different than getting a credit score and applying for a mortgage and even getting some jobs....
you know if you get arrested for bouncing checks it shows up on your rap sheet and if you want to work in healthcare you can be denied employment....
ask me the income that certified nurse aides earn......yeah,,,about that much to care...but I digress.....
the question is WHY do we need to live subsidized lives based on some kind of arbitrary virtual value.....
those who control the land control the food supply those who control the fiat control the food supply those who control the food supply control the masses those who control the fiat control the masses
...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
