Binghamton is another poverty dumpsite. GB gets frustrated when people throw around numbers they don't understand, or, like our former mayor did, throw around numbers in a misleading way to get people to believe his bs. Schenectady's property taxes are way too high, and are getting worse, and no chart with numbers on it is going to change that FACT, and since you don't even live here and suffer, I don't see what the heck you are trying to prove, Box. Buy a house here and tell me it isn't so bad. Rye is a wealthy NYC suburb, with excellent schools and low, low, crime, something like we used to be, except for the wealth part. Don't worry, the "diversity" crowd is working on that.
Obviously the city of Schenectady must be paying someone off to lie
Here are the numbers for 2013
School tax rate 2012-2013 22.10 County tax rate 7.03 City tax rate 13.58
Total 42.71
Those rates are based on the assessed value. Converting that to the city's claim of full market value would make that total $42.71 even higher. Then converting it to the REAL market value will make that rate probably closer to $50 per $1,000
Then add the trash fee, the sewer fee, and the water fee. Now go do the math.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

If I moved to Schenectady, my tax rate would decrease by $10.00 per thousand.

Hey, add in the median income, then tell me if Schenectady doesn't rank in the top 5.
