Wanted to see broadway show coming.....ticket prices are outrageous.....92 bucks ( 2 )for the cheapest seats in the house.
and it seems quite unfair for seniors...or people with low incomes who want some "art" in their lives.
if Proctor's is failing is because more people are eating out and not going to Proctor's after for a show...
seems awhile back that could be afforded...dinner and a show.....movie is out....not safe....and again.....tickets prices are outrageous
and forget it if you want popcorn and a drink......have to get a loan....
Proctors has movies at a reduced price. A nice way to see a current movie in a beautiful setting.

Can rent movies...see them on TV....Netflex....Red Box.......want to see live perforances.....like I say....some can afford.....most cannot...
I download movies at home but that's a different experience than 'going out' for a movie and something to eat.
You can sit in a modern black box cinema (ya might as well be in a shoebox) or you can sit in a beautiful one of a kind venue at Proctors, often for less money.

She is talking about a live show not a movie. Try the Egg in Albany Patches they usually have different shows.

Actually she was talking about both.
(Proctors has good movies at about half price compared to other theaters, the only down side is that some of the movies are near the end of their commercial run in the area or are old classics.)

I can't afford the good shows at Proctor's either. I am not in danger of losing my house, but my discretionary spending has to be watched carefully. I could really use the extra two grand a should not be paying out, but what the heck, as long as all these movers and shakers can afford to live better than I do, isn't that how the feudal system is supposed to work? Patches, if you volunteer, you can see the shows for free, no, wait....
Not me. All city residents should get 50% discount since we already pay for Proctors. The senior citizens, disabled, unemployed low income people are excluded from near everything in Schenectady.

Absolutely right.
Charging full admission to those who paid to rebuild Proctors is adding insult to injury.
You know something? Cel is right, even more ways than what she said. I was driving through the GE plot yesterday, and I started thinking about real estate in the city. I remembered what a couple told me about an open house they went to in what had been a very fine neighborhood in the city. She (the realtor) was bragging about all the important people that lived near the house. They were all city employees who had to live here. This couple passed on the house, as did everyone else, because the taxes are way too high. The only people who can afford houses in our nicer neighborhoods are government workers and those in the higher level Not for Profit jobs. The rest of us can't afford the taxes, but these people benefit from those extreme taxes, and make way higher salaries than they could ever command in private industry. So places like the GE Plot, the houses might be in reach of regular people, but the extreme rich people taxes keep us out.
